Looking too get a little more velocity with a 160 AccuBond,my current load with IMR-4350 is averaging only 2725fps. Anyone have any experience with this combo.

I'm using winchester brass , fed 215 primer , 66.0 grains RL22 , 160 AccuBond . this is giving me 3000 FPS and very good accuracy out of a 24" bbl . as always , start low and work up to this load . Jim

I've used RL22 with both the 160 grain Fail Safe and the 175 Partition. The loads gave me good velocities and great accuracy in my 7mm RM. It is a great powder, especially for heavy for calibre bullets in this cartridge.

RL22 and a 7 Rem Mag should be written in stone. It's that good. 3000-3100 is very possible with a 160 and 2900-3000's are pretty possible with the 175's. Haven't seen many where it wast very accurate and fast.

Reloader 22 can be very good in a 7mm Rem Mag. It is usually a top performer.

However, the Nosler TGR rifle I am currently working with shoots a good deal better groups and gives more velocity when using IMR 7828.

In fact, I was having trouble getting the Nosler claim of MOA groups till I switched to IMR 7828. IMR 4831 and RL 22 would not do it consistantly.

The real surprise came when I tried the Barnes 160 grain TSX over IMR 7828 in a Winchester case and a Fed 215M primer. Easy to get under MOA groups and one outstanding group of 0.296 inches, at just short of 3000 fps.

You just have to mess around with rifles to see what they like. Another 7mm Rem Mag I worked with a while back shot best with RL 25.

Just got back from shooting.Started at 60 grains and worked up to 63 which according to nosler is there max. I recorded 2815 (avg) with the 63 and no signs of pressure. Might try going up in half grain increments this weekend.

skinner,

RL 22 should get you where you want to be.

fed 215 primer , 66.0 grains RL22 , 160 AccuBond . 3000-3100 FPS

Looking at my notes I do have another killer load! Totally forgot about this one

72.5 gr H-1000 3150 fps with the 160. Please work up to it!

RL-22 and the 160's are a match made in heaven. Terrific stuff there.

Sierra lists 65 grains of RL-22 as an "accuracy load" with their 165 gr SPBT bullet. I've used that load with several different 160's, always with very good results, and about 3,000 - 3,100 fps as stated by others.

Work up to it, watching for pressure signs. Never had a problem with that load in at least four different 7mm Rem mags I've tried it in.

I use IMR 2878 SSC in my 24 inch barrrel 7mm Rem Mag and get over 3000 fps @15 feet IV withh 66.0 grains and Mag Match primers. Something to consider if RL22 does not work out for you.

I got pressure signs in my Savage Tactical 110 at 64 grs of RL 22 but it was 108 degrees that day too
63 grs with a 160 AB clocked 3075 at 10 feet and printed a dime sized group.
It also shot all the way through 200 lb Missouri doe that was facing my buddy head on.Stem to stern.
As we were facing west I am pretty sure that bullet ended up in Kansas somewhere judging by the furrow it plowed upon exiting.

I'm using 66.0 grains of RL22 in my 7mag and get around 2980 fps and under 1 inch groups. I worked up to it and I'm very pleased with the results.

As many of you guys are aware, 7mm Rem Mag chamber reamers seem to vary a little. This was a bigger problem in the 1960's when individual rifles seemed to have a pressure profile in this caliber which made maximum loading a "within 5% predictability" variance span in a caliber which climbs over-the-top in pressure pretty fast. My Pre-1970, Mark X Mauser displays this behavior and has taught me to be careful with this caliber.

For these reasons, I have always been pretty reluctant to give others maximum load numbers without lots of caveats about watching pressure signs. Even standard factory loaded cartridge brands seem to vary a couple hundred FPS of muzzle velocity in the 7mm Rem Mag from rifle to rifle or by manufacturer. Both of my 7mm Rem Mag rifles were European made and both generated velocities within SAAMI specification up to maximum loads. I do not have any experience with American manufactured rifles in this caliber. Just my $.02 worth.

Had some issues with loading the 160's. But i did load up some 140BT using reloader 22. I think i have a winner.

Wow, that would be a smoker on any deer walking! Man, I imagine they wouldn't ever move out of their hoof prints!
