My 2008 model 700 cdl SF in 264 is one being recalled, I have never had a problem with it. Is it really worth sending in?

That all depends on what the problem is?..Do you have a Remington warranty depot near you?..If it's something simple, I'd rather fix it myself, or take it to a good smith before sending it back to them and risk them hacking it up. Hope this helps, Lou

Gravel Agency is handling the recall in Canada--finally. I have several Remington firearms that are subject to recall. The recall is because of an epoxy used on the trigger mechanism. In extremely hot conditions, a rifle can misfire if the epoxy begins to run. I don't see a lot of extremely hot conditions here in Canada. Candidly, before I would send back these rifles, I will change out the triggers. In the interim, I understand that I am responsible for safety when handling a firearm. I have decided that I will not bother sending back any of my firearms. Remington took an extremely long time to decide what to do about firearms in Canada and have made for provision for the inconvenience. They were willing to give a discount on Remington goods to Americans who were without their firearms. To date, they have made no such provision for those of us living in Canada.

Guys for what it's worth I had a recall on my Model 600 with the safety. Instead of sending it back to Remington, there are a number of gunsmiths who they used to do this warranty work for them knowing what a huge endeavor it was. I found the closest one to me which was in Helena and took it there myself. If you check, they might have something similar to you folks up there.

David, one group and that is it. I don't fancy sending my rifles back to Montreal. Besides, this is really a minor issue. I have inspected my rifles and see no particular evidence of a problem. I do believe Remington fumbled the ball by not being prepared when they issued the recall. Perhaps it was because of transitions in the corporation, or perhaps it is systemic to the company as currently constituted. In any case, I don't see a serious problem in this case.

I'm with Mike and I don't think it is a serious issue and am not going to send my SPS in, I have seen nothing with it that looks unsafe on mine. I also will change mine out one day for probably a Rifle Basix to have a better trigger pull but in the mean time the factory unit works fine. Remington is being extra cautious because of the whole Walker trigger ordeal which was also overblown as well.

Just drop a timney in it. You'll get a better trigger and won't have the worry!

Yep I just figure this recall will give me a boot in the rear to get outfitted with Jewell, Timney, Basix, Shilens, or Kepplinger triggers...

I don't have a rifle effected by the recall... if I did. I probably just use the excuse to stick in a Rifle Basix.
