rem 760 date made

I have a Rem 760 Gamemaster pump rifle chambered in 270win. I have tried to find out when it was made--just the year. I spent 30 minutes and got nothing on the internet. Can someone smarter than me tell me the year. I know it is old. Thanks for any help. The number on the receiver is 155339.

On the left side of the barrel, just in front of the receiver, there should be 2 or 3 letters stamped.
The first will establish the month it was made and the second 1 or 2 will define the year.

You can find charts explaining the code on the net (type in Remington manufacture codes) or if you want to post a picture from your rifle I'd be more than happy to look it up for you.
