Remington 600 in 6mm Rem

I have a Rem 600 in 6MM Rem 18.5" barrel, 1x9.25 twist rate. Wondering how low I could go on bullet weights to do up a varmint reload.
Any stories on short barreled 6MM Rems or varminting welcomed

You could easily use 55 BT or 58 grain VMaxs if you were so inclined. The jacket on the 55 BT and other is plenty thick to take about anything you could toss at them in the 9 1/4 twist.

I used the 70 gr BT in a 243 Win with great results on woodchucks out to 400 yards.

It's my son's rifle now, but he has my old Remington Model 600 Centennial Model in 6mm Remington. I used 85 gr. Sierra Boattail hollow-points in it for coyotes and gophers. You certainly can go lower with great results as others have stated. The Model 600 is a neat little rifle. It's killed a whole bunch of antelope and deer for me using 100 gr. Nosler Partitions at 2800 fps using IMR4350.

And 85gr Barnes are excellent for deer
It’s a mid range deer rifle for a long shot is 300 yards for the 18.5”.

Shot my first deer with this rifle and just had the opportunity to buy it so i jumped on it. I know it shoots 100 gr factory federal blue box well but that doesn't exist anymore. Going to give reloading this guy a try and I mostly shoot coyotes at 100-200 yards. I was just curious on how the low grainers would fair.

55 grain bullets go very fast from the well-worn 22" barrel of my 6mm Rem, but the 75's have always grouped better and are excellent on varmints.

I've loaded the 95 and 100 grain bullets for mule deer with complete satisfaction.

I reckon I used the 70 grain BT's too in part because I could get them in a box of 250. Good little bullet

I have used the 50gr "class" to the 70 gr. All work very very well.
