Remington 7600 270 Winchester

I stopped at my LGS on the way to work this morning. I don't get to stop as often as I used to so I do occasionally to see what's new. I immediately saw a Remington 7600 on the shelf and the tag said it was a 270. It was in really good shape so I filled out the paperwork and picked it up after work.
It came with a scope base installed but no scope. I had a Leupold Rifleman 4-12×40 already and put it on.
There are a few safe/hunting marks on the right side of the stock but other than that its pretty clean. I cleaned it and the bore was fairly clean as well. I thought the wood grain was pretty, too. The production codes indicate it was made in August of 1994.
I'm not a big 270 guy usually, but this one spoke to me and the price was extremely good, especially considering the prices on Gunbroker.
If possible, I'm gonna try to get it sighted in and maybe hunt with it this season.

I am as dyed in the wool of a .30-06 guy as you can find. That said, the .270 is a darn good cartridge.

I’m pretty late to the party where the .270 is concerned. My Uncle passed away six years ago and left me a Browning BBR in .270! It loves the old combo of a 130 grain Sierra Gameking on top of H4831. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

With that gun/load I have taken several coyotes, one cow elk and put down an old stifled beef cow. All but one folded with one shot, and I’m still not convinced that the elk needed the 2nd bullet. As you can see in the picture, her hide is pretty peeled up from the tumble she took.

A grand old cartridge it is, and like the .30-06, it will be with us to the end of time.

Well, you did well all the way around! Classic rifle chambered in a classic cartridge--what's not to like!

There's a reason the 270 has been with us almost 100 years now it just plain works without a lot of recoil. Just as good as a 30-06 just a bit different. Bet that 7600 shoots for you too!

Congratulations on your find. That is a great caliber in an equally well rifle. First rifle I bought was a 760 30-06 and started my reloading journey with. You did well. Hope you get a big one with it this season. Dan.
