Here we go again in Washington State ... House Democrat pushes bill requiring liability policy to buy or possess firearms.

Time to get vocal & push back ... I waited a few days before posting this giving it some thought. Also see that other states are tying the same; California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey & probably more.

Can you imagine carrying proof of insurance to hunt with your firearm, shooting at the range, etc ....

If you're into reading more:

I heard about this through my gunsmithing school contacts. Not cool to put it softly. We may have 2A rights advocates in DC for the time being, but historically states have often slipped in non-Constitutional laws that take far longer to repeal than they did to implement. The more pressure we can apply, and sooner, the better.

That's somewhat true but look at what Trump has done in 8 days! I just don't see how this goes anywhere.

Nothing more than another gun grabbing attempt by the snowflake liberals that think picking up a turd by the clean end is possible.

If by some chance this lunacy gains traction in the state of Washington, you can rest assured the vultures, (insurance companies) will "play ball" in the state closest to you.

What is the plan according to Project 2025 for state gun rights? The Trump Admin seems to be following those recommendations so far.

Other bills for WA include a permit system to buy guns, an 11 percent tax on ammo and guns, additional storage requirements beyond just keeping them away from kids which includes locking ammo and firearms separately in the home and car.

The NRA warns me about these bills but does jack about them.

Our new state Governor, Bob Ferguson, was our state attorney general for years. He sued the heck out of the first Trump administration, devoting most of his effort at that instead of making Washington a safer, more law-abiding place. For a northwest democrat he's actually a bit fiscally conservative, but he's a serious anti-gunner.

I'm not sure that there's much Trump can do to stop deep blue Washington from enacting these new regulations. Eventually the worst of them are likely to be overturned by the courts - but not by our state courts which are all jammed with lefty anti-gun judges.

When I moved to this state 30 years ago it was actually pretty pro-gun, particularly for a liberal state. It's taken a hard turn, much farther left, over the last ten years. I don't know if there's any way to turn it back for now. I understand that it's the only state that moved farther left in the Nov 2024 election.

Washington used to be more practical, when it came to firearms. Even restrictive laws gave some thought to needed exceptions.
Hunting with suppressors is allowed. Dogs can be used to retrieve wounded big game. Concealed Pistol Licenses are shall issue.

Lately (like the rest of the country) billionaires are supporting initiatives and candidates in an overwhelming way. These supporters could care less if initiatives and laws effect real safety and rights issues. They pass the stuff and let the courts sort it out. In the meantime citizens get caught up in the consequences. No cooperation between stakeholders. Everything is ideological. On both sides.

Red Eastern WA voted down ticket for GOP, less for Trump/ MAGA this time. Not sure why.

Maybe eastern Washington should secede and join Idaho.

Speaking from experience I find it really disheartening when you are not represented by your so called representatives. Washington is controlled by the west coast and it’s laws reflect that.

Personally I’m in favor of dividing up the country into three or four regional governments/countries much like states were their own entity until the unconstitutional War Of Northern Aggression. I think people would get better representation that way but it depends on how the lines on the maps are drawn.

Let's see if judges and DA's are willing to buy liability policies on the thugs they either don't prosecute or let off with a slap on the wrist. If I am to be liable for not properly securing my firearms, they should be liable for not properly securing the bigger threats to society.
You speak of accountability and that only applies to the common folk.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. Strange times for certain.

Bigger things going on right now.

Hedge fund managers are 10 to 1 shorting the stock market now due to tariffs according to Goldman Sachs

Un-elected bureaucrat Musk has full access to the US treasury payment system

Trump ordered air strikes in Somalia

With Rubio's visit, Panama people are protesting and getting ready for war

You’re confusing national with state issues.

So? He’s doing what he was appointed to do.

Trump ordered air strikes in Somalia

clearwater,

Please do me a favor since we seem to have diverted from the original topic.

I’m going to start a new thread about thoughts on certain topics as they pertain to recent presidents. Could you please share your thoughts and opinions.
