I did get a chance to do a little shooting yesterday with Remington M700 NA Custom in .270 Winchester after the receiver was replaced. I will try to attach the results below.
I had cross winds gusting to about 10 mph during the session. However, since I was shooting out the garage I couldn't feel it and I didn't try to wait for calm periods. I just shot when I was ready. I have no idea of how much, in any, of the right and left variations were due to the wind.
Also, I was struggling with a "floater" in my left eye and I didn't feel like I was consistent in settling into the rifle. I don't feel confident had I am holding it the same each time. I am still on the learning curve for shooting left handed.
The outdoor temperatures during my previous sessions was much warmer probably averaging about 85 degrees. Yesterday was in the mid 50's here. I don't know how much of the variation in the factory velocities was due to cooler temperatures or due to the new receiver.
Previous velocities in the Nosler factory loads averaged 3070 fps. Now I am measuring about 3035 fps. The Remington loads previously averaged 2900 fps. Now I get something closer to 2800 fps. The Federal loads previously measured 3034 fps. Now they are running 3019 fps.
Based on this very small sampling (not statistically significant) the rifle seems to like the AB bullets better than BT bullets.
My velocities with the 140 gr AB and 58 gr. of H4831sc were disappointing to say the least. They are lower than before but I seated the bullets to match the Nosler factory loads C.O.A.L. of 3.250". Before I had set them a few thousands off the lands at 3.410 ". That might account for some of the velocity drop. Note that the 140 gr BT's loaded to 3.409 had velocities closer to the 2850 fps that I had attained before with 140 gr AB and 58 gr. of H4831sc.
I have a RCBS precision Mic on order to measure the spent cartridge headspaces. I plan to compare the spent cartridge cases from the original receiver with the cases from the replacement receiver.
I like the group I got with 140 AB and H4831sc if I can only get the velocity up to 2905 fps. Am I beating a dead horse if I stay with this powder? Should I try the H4350 or the IMR7828 that I have on hand or am I destined to go on a search for IMR4831 or RL22?
