45/70, 375 H&H, 300 Win mag, 300 WSM, 30-06, 308 Win, 30-30, 7mm Rem mag, 25-06, 6mm Rem, 223, 204 Ruger and of course the 22 long rifle!

Don't have all the rifles anymore, but a pretty good cross-section of rifle cartridges I think. I'm sure I picked up somebody else's rifle and hunted with it a time or two, but these are the rifle cartridges for owned and used for hunting.

How 'bout you?

Regards, Guy

458 Lott, 458 American 2”, 45/70, 450 bushmaster, 44 rem mag, 375 RUM, 375 H&H, 9.3x62, 35 whelen, 358 win, 35 rem, 338 rum, 338 win, 338 RCM, 325 WSM, 8x57, 300 RUM, 300 win, 300 WSM, 30/06, 308, 30-30, 7mm Rem mag, 270 win, 6.5x55, 260, 243, 22-250, 223, 22 hornet, 22 mag, 22 lr, 17 HMR

These are all cartridges I have hunted with.

If them probably 90% of game taken has been with 300 RUM, 308, and .243 win.

My current lineup is
375 RUM, 9.3x62, 338 RCM, 300 RUM, 308, and 6.5 CM, 22 Lr

I actually find myself sticking in the 300-6.5 range more and more.

These are my current rifles. I do have a couple of 308s and 708 hence the double in pic. I do have an 6mm Creedmoor in the works ,still waiting for it to come back from the smith.

300 Savage, 7mm Rem mag, 7mm-08, 6.5x55 Swede, .243, .223, .222 and 22lr. Thinking about adding a .204 cal chambering or two, maybe a .172 just to try and so I can say that I have.

Edit: Forgot the ol' swede... dont have it, the 300 Savage or the .222 anymore.

338 Win - 338 Federal - 300 RUM - 300 WSM - 7mm RM - 270 WSM - 264 WM - 6.5x284 Norma - 6.5 Creedmoor - 243 Win - 22-250 Rem - 223 Rem - 22 LR - 17 WSM - 17 HMR ….

Most are still here but a couple are gone. 28 Nosler is on my mind...

I had 30 different cartridges at one time, I sold a ton, too much work and space keeping all the ammo. I just sold my 325 Wsm, so I am down to 300wsm, 308, 300 Blackout, 223, 22lr.

In the process of getting 260, 243, 7mm-08.

Currently own these rifles (have hunted* with most, and those I have not yet, soon will!):
17 Mach II*, 22LR*, 221 Fireball, 223 Rem, 250 Savage, 250 AI*, 257 Roberts, 6.5 Creedmoor*, 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser*, 7mm-08 Rem, 280 Rem*, 284 Win, 7MM STW*, 30-30 WCF*, 307 Win, 30-06 Springfield*, 300 WSM*, 338 Federal*, 338-06 A-Square*, 348 Win, 2 - 35 Rem's, 2 - 356 Win's*, 358 Win*, 2 - 375 Win's*, 9.3x63 (waiting to come in), 376 Steyr*, 416 Taylor, and 41 Rem Mag.

Have previously owned the following rifles:
204 Ruger, 218 Bee*, 243 Win*, 260 Rem*, 6.5 x 284 Norma*, 270 Win*, 270 WSM*, 270 Wby*, 7MM Rem Mag*, 308 Win*, 300 Win Mag*, 338 Win Mag*, and 45/70 Gov't

Have also hunted with, but not owned:
22 Win Mag, 35 Whelen, 458 Win Mag and 7.2x39

Would definitely own again:
338 Win Mag

From the upper to lower end...

.416 Rigby, .375 H&H, .375 Ruger, .338WM, .300WSM, .30-06, .308, 30WCF, 7.62x39, 7WSM, 7-08REM, .270WIN, 6.5Creedmoor, .257WBY, 243WIN, 22-250REM, .223REM. .22MAG, .22LR....and .44 and .357MAG revolvers.

I've easily taken more game with the 300WSM and .30-06 than all the other centerfires combined. I've not taken game with every cartridge on the list, but most of them I have.

If I were doing it over again, I'd likely just get a swanky .300 of some flavor and just hunt everything with it across the board.

Forgot 6,5 Creedmore 243 and 22 lr of the centerfires the .22-250, .223, .25-20 and the 6.5 have not taken deer and or elk, just varmits

Yup. And if I'd taken heed of what Dad told me 50 years ago, I could have just done it all with my 30-06, then my list would be as short as Thankful Otter's!

But, it was fun and interesting, learning about all those different cartridges & rifles along the way.

TO,
Well put. Succinct.

I am not going to list all the calibers I have used, I doubt if I could even remember all the calibers I have used. Trips to Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and Africa, sometimes were "add on" days to business trips to other countries, or if we finished business early in one of those countries

However my favorite calibers to hunt with have been the 22Hornet, 243, 6.5 x 55, 30-30, 30-06, 300H & H, 375 H & H and 12 gauge. The last rifle I bought for myself was a 270 Weatherby and I liked it and would have probably used it a lot if I had bought it sooner in my life.

Personally, and although I have the 257 Weatherby, I like the 270 Weatherby a bit better as a good all round rifle for everything, including plains game, but obviously not enough gun for dangerous game.

As an aside, on my first trip to Africa I took a 416 Rigby and it was too much gun for me, and I gave it to a friend as soon as I returned home.

I'll put a * next to the ones I still have.
22LR *, 22 Hornet, 221FB *, 22BR *, 223 *, 22-250 *, 6BR *, 243*, 243AI *, 6mm *, 6x47*, 6-284, 6WSM *, 243 Catbird, 25-06*, 25-7RM *, 6.5x47 L *, 6.5 Creedmoor *, 264wm, 6.5x284*, *6.5 saum *, 6.5 x 68 Imp *, 6.5-300wm *, 270 win *, 270wsm *, 270-300wm *, 7BR, 7-08, 284 Win *, 7saum, 7RM, 7-300wm *, 7STW *, 7RUM, 30BR, 308 *, 30-284, 30-06 *, 300wsm *, 300 H&H, 30-338wm, 300wm *, 308 Baer *, 30-358 STA, 30-8mm RM *, 300 Norma Imp *, 300 RUM *, 30-338 Lapua Imp *, 30-378, 30-378 Imp *, 8x68 *, 338wm, 338 Baer *, 338 Lapua *, 338 Edge *, 338-378, 350RM *, 358STA *, 375 H&H, 375-8RM, 375-358STA *, 375 RUM, 416RM *, 416RUM, 450 Bushmaster *, 458 Lott*, 460 Weatherby *, 500 A-Square *.

The 460 Weatherby and 500 A-Square are a switch barrel set up with my 30-338 Lapua Imp and have only been used to shoot bears off bait. I do have the parts to add a few more when I get the time. Those are a 6.5 Sherman Short, 7-300wsm, 28 Nosler, 7-338 Norma Imp, 375 Ruger, 375 Cheytac Imp (this one is primarily for testing muzzle brakes). I know there are more wildcats I've made over the years but I can't remember them all. I'm going to build a 45cal smokeless/smoked muzzleloader at some point and I would like a nice wood stocked CRF 404 Jeffrey on a Win M-70 or 416 Rigby on a CZ or Montana action to drag to Africa sometime.
