Ring Help for R700

Hey guys!

My good friends wife just called me up wanting some help for a Christmas present. My buddy has been wanting a Leupold 4-12x50 VX-II Riflescope for his Remington 700. Looks like he is now getting it.

My question is, which size Warne rings should I get him to go with this. Would medium work with the 50mm objective or should I get high rings??

Leupold recomends their high ring for the 50 mm scopes.
You might want to compare dimentions of the Warne ring to the Leupold.

I am not sure about Warne's sizing, but medium Talleys worked with room to spare on my 50 mm Kahles on a Rem M700 rifle with a Shilen sporter weight barrel.

I went ahead and got the High Warne rings. Since we have a Sportsmen Warehouse in town now, he can take them back if he needs to.

He just got the rifle this summer but wanted a good scope for it. I think he will be very happy when he opens his Christmas present from his wife :wink:

Thanks for the help guys. He was really stoked about the scope and appreciated the rings and bases.

I liked the rings and bases so much I have bought a couple pair for my rifles. Plan to put them on my .480ruger also. Nice and sturdy.
