im courrious if anybody has any loads with the RL-17 in the 270wsm using the 240gr accubonds ????? id also be interested in the 30/06 with the same powder using the 165gr nosler particians
I take it that a "240 gr AccuBond" in the 270wsm to be a type-o.
Good idea though
The 165 gr .30 caliber Partition bullet in the 30/06 is one of the finest hunting loads around. I've used it on antelope to elk with consistent results/success. Never tried RL-17 with it.
sorry bout that,, i ment 140gr in the AccuBond
i agree with you on the 165gr in the 30cal  i belive its just a good all around bullet for just about anything walking,,,
I have loaded RL-17 with 130 BT and @ max load they were at ~3250fps. That was in a Sako 75. I too just loaded 140 AB, I have not shot them yet for accuracy and speed. It's been so hot here that it doesn't make sense to shoot these loads yet. Soon I hope.
My favorite load for my 270wsm is with RL 17. I am loading 63gr RL 17 with 140 Accubonds and CCI 1250 primers. I am get an average speed of 3465fps and sub 3/4" groups at 100 yards and with a coal of 2.865".
I am shooting a Browning M-1000 Eclipse with a 26" barrel. Man I love this gun.
I think Dr Mike will chime in here. I am pretty sure he has some great load work that he did with his 270WSM and RL17. I believe he said it was a great powder and really worked well with the 270WSM. I have used RL22 in the 270WSM with 150gr PT's and BT's to get over 3100FPS. If I use that rifle this year, I will use one of those loads. They are accurate and hit hard! Scotty
I have had no luck with RL 17 in my 270 wsm, 3" + groups were the norm, the gun shot 4350 pretty good so I tried it but no luck, was getting really good velocity though. Now in my dads 270 win. I was getting 1" groups with 140s today.
