Thanks for checking. I should have a couple of loaner scopes and a red dot to try sometime soon.

And... as it looks now after talking Ernie out of his Ultradot red-dot sight. I'm doing fine with it out to 50-60 yards, but not as tight as I ought to be at 100 yards.
