My Model .30-06 is one of the most accurate riddles that I have ever owned.

Did you ever solve the riddle, Charlie?

I would like to solve the riddle of why I feel so sick after 5 hours of IV Gamma Globulin (10%) 60 cl of IVIG every third Friday. I corrected it and won't post any more tonight.

Scusa?

Smith says he has the new recoil pad on, working on the rest of it now. I told him "if" he could get the trigger adjusted ( Sako claims a 3 way adjustment on this trigger) down to 2.5# that would be sweet!

I'm picking up the rifle later today! Best part is, "IF" this rifle just won't shoot, I can sure sell it for a good profit for the next project, Ha! I'm really hoping its a shooter, it would sure look "classy" in deer camp! :)

...pretty rare to find a Sako that won't shoot, I'd be surprised if you aren't pretty happy w/ it...

I don't think that you have to worry. I have owned (3) different Sako's and currently have a Sako 85. They all shoot well.

I have no doubt it is an excellent acquisition. Looking forward to some pictures of the rifle.

Well..I tried to mount my Leupold 2.5x8 using Talley bases and fixed rings. No dice, the bases are too far apart for the scope to fit! Was bummed out, then calmed down and called Talley to see if they offered extended rings, etc. for the Sako. Turns out all I need is called the XF ( Extended Front) base. $22 bucks or so! I think I can get it to work with that new base. What do you other Sako users have as a base/ring set up?

While the Leupold 2.5x8 isn't super short, it is shorter (between bells) than most bigger scopes. I could have went with a longer body scope i.e. Redfield 4x12, but I like my 2.5x8 for all-around. By using that extended base it will position the front ring "back toward the turret" and give me more space on the tube for adjustment, etc.

That 2.5-8x is a superb "all-around" big game scope.

Had one on a rifle I sold, a .300 Win mag. Dang. Don't miss the rifle, but I should have kept the scope!

Guy

I wish the scope tube on that one was a little longer myself, it is a great scope for 270/30-06 rifles.

I have a 3-9x42 Kahles on my .338 (short action) Sako 85. It works fine with the original ring mounts. The Kahles has a little more tube length than the Leupold.

I hear you Guy! I sold a beautiful Mod 70 Supergrade in .300 Win with a 3x9 Swarovski. I couldn't get that Mod 70 to shoot that well with the 180 XBT I was hung up on at the time. It was also "almost too pretty" to hunt with! ha. I don't miss the rifle but I do miss that scope! I bought my first 2.5x8 VIII way back in the late 70's, sold some along the way, but always replaced them. Only had one mess up, from a 5#, muzzle braked .340 Weatherby ( yep, too much of a good thing). For me, its just an old friend I treally trust; another is the 1.5x5 VIII on my 35 Whelen AI!

Got the base in, mounted the scope, worked the bolt slamming it shut and the trigger slipped off the sear. Smith had adjusted it down to around 2.75 to 3# and it doesn't like that! ha. I like a lighter trigger, actually around 2 1/2# so I got the part number from Brownells and had him go ahead and order me a Timney. So, once it gets replaced, if any of you Sako owners want to trade me something for this genuine Sako trigger, let me know! :)

Supposed to pick her up today! I sure am looking forward to it. I was also pleased to read that the 1 in 11" twist works well with up to 215gr bullets. I will have to "try" my 240 woodleighs someday, ha. I normally use the 200 PT as a heavy over a hatfull of R22.
