Hey guy's I havent been on here for a while. Just have a quick question for you all. I have been looking at getting the new savage axis in the 223 rem. I have alot of 5.56 ammo that I have laying around and was wondering if it would be safe to shoot through this rifle. I know that the 5.56 has a higher pressure and just a little longer. What are your thoughts on this? Should I just stick with shooting the 223 rem rounds through it or can I shoot the 5.56 through it? Thanks!

I have shot plenty of Mil spec ammo through me savage. Not to worry.

I am looking at buying one of these hopefully in a week, does anyone have a review on them? Being they are savage they should be real tack drivers. I have read nothing but good things so far. What are your thoughts?

I sighted in a neighbor's new axis in 22-250 last weekend and was very impressed with the accuracy. I shot a 3 shot group of .7" with 55gr factory remington corelokt bullets, and then another friend shot a group under .5" with his handload of RL 15 and 55gr ballistic tips. The trigger is terrible, heavy and very very rough, and the cheap bushnell scope it came with didn't track real well. That said, the accuracy was impressive, I'd love to see what I could make it do with better glass, a trigger job, and handloading. I offered to buy the rifle after seeing the groups.
