Savage Mod 25 Walking Varmint?

What do you know about this rifle? Is it a heavy barrel on a lighter stock? Also, what is the big difference between a 26" and a 22" barrel with the 204 Ruger out to 300 yards? I am looking for all the info you can throw at me. I was planning on getting a 12FV but found this one so I need to know more before I order. I am looking to shoot off a bench and reload for the rifle. I will take it on short walks in the woods so weight is not an issue.

I have posted about getting a 204 before and would really like to get one. I also can get a nice price on a Savage so it will be a 12FV or the 25.

They are great guns. Very accurate!

My #1V n 204 does 4220fps with Win 748 with a 26" tube. But it is a pig to carry.

The walking rifles are more compact. Out to 300 yards you will notice no difference.

Any one know the details of this rifle? What contour is the barrel? Is the action good or not?
