I'm selling my Weatherby Vanguard 300 WSM to someone at the gun club I belong to and I'm looking to replace it with either a model 16 weather warrior or the model 16 bear hunter. Anyone have any experience with the bear hunter? I like the idea of the muzzle break design on that rifle.

Never heard of many people getting a lemon with a Savage. Seems like a well set up rifle. Can't see where you would go wrong. What cartridge?

I don't believe I'd shy from picking up a Savage. The Bear Hunter appears to have some very desirable chamberings.

You can not go wrong. great guns and accurate

I'm going to stay with the 300 WSM. I'm going to try and get some prices this week on both models if I get a chance.

I picked up the 16 Bear Hunter earlier this year in the 300WSM. It has worked out great. No problems with the gun at all. Fit and finish are better then expected. I did put a ss tacticle handle on bolt to match the Preditor MAX that I have. Loading for it was easy. It likes RL17 and 180gn bullets best.
I'm happy with both Savage rifles.

I'm going with the model 16 weather warrior. Is there a big benefit getting a model with the detachable magazine or would I be better of sticking with the hinged floorplate?

I personally prefer the hinged floorplate, primarily because there are fewer glitches in feeding.

I am with Mike. Hinged floorplate is pretty trouble free and you won't lose it!
