Wondering who shoots imr 8208 in a 223 rem? How’s it compare to Benchmark.?
Will be using 50gr-60gr.

I am getting ready to do some load work ups with IMR 8208 for 223. If you want to see some good load work ups go to YouTube and look up Jonny's Reloading Bench. He has done a lot of work. I do use IMR 8208 in my 6.5 Grendel. It is a GREAT powder but you need to watch it toward the top end because it can spike pressures. It is a stick powder and is very stable temperature wise.

Pretty much mirrors my experience with it. Just keep a close eye on the chrono as you approach max...The bigger challenge is finding a reliable supply lately.

I use 8208 and Benchmark in a Tikka T3 light .223. With a max load of benchmark, I can get a 50 gr Blitzking up to 3,344 FPS. With 8208, a max load with a 55 gr Blitzking gets me up to 3,167 FPS. Both at max loading produce very accurate results.

I know the bullets weights are not the same. Therefore, I’m not comparing apples to apples. However, it should give you an idea.

8208 is what I use in my 22-250 with 62 grain TTSX's for about 3550... It is really danged good to me. Planning to try it in my 6.5 Grendel pretty shortly.

Hunt12758 thanks for the info. What is your max like 26 gr with the 55gr blitzking? I have a couple 22/250’s I’d like to try it in as well.

Same for me. In my 20" barrel 120 Speer Gold Dot I get sub MOA accuracy and average 2550 fps with quite a bit more powder (28 grs.) than Speer's data list which is VERY conservative in my experience. SMOKES DEER.
In my 18" barrel (28.5) 120 Sierra Pro Hunter I can also get sub MOA accuracy and average 2550 fps. SMOKES DEER
I can run a little more powder (28.5 grs) with the 120 Sierra PH than I can with the 120 Speer GD.
Both rifles are AR-15 platform.

On the Grendel note, I’ve found AR Comp to be even better than 8208(barely) in my Howa. Both powders were just as temp stable as H4350 was in my 30-06 and .243 when I tested them a couple years ago, and AR Conp has let me run just a bit more velocity before showing ejector marks on the case heads- especially bullets over 123 grains. H4895 would be my other top pick if I couldn’t find AR Comp- it also lets me run a bit more velocity than 8208, again especially with heavier bullets, and it’s a Hodgdon Extreme powder, although I never tested it first-hand in that specific application for temp stability.

I use that and Benchmark in my .223 Ruger Target with 26" heavy barrel. Shoots under 1/2 MOA for 5 shots with 53g vmax at 3300-3350fps. Benchmark does the same, just a bit quicker at 3400fps.

I believe I found my node at 25.5 gr behind a 55 gr Blitzking in my Tikka .223. The 50 gr node was 26.4 gr of benchmark.
