Yep...she already had a 270...this one is just an upgrade :) ...we're calling it her anniversary present (I was saying birthday, she decided anniversary)

Thanks fellas...I thought the price was kinda high, but since I am reinvesting the money from selling her current 270...I bought it anyway, lol.

They're so hard to find right now, M70's that is...None of the local shops could get any...and I can't wait forever because of my job and having to have the time to get the rifle all setup for hunting season...that will literally take me months...I'll get it together and sighted in when I go home in May...find an accurate load in August or September...then load the ammo probably the day before season opens, lol.

Not exactly...just gonna see what the load for her other rifler does first then go from there.

I have a jug of IMR 4350 that I'm not using for anything else, figured I'd use that along with some Nosler 130 BT's...surely I'll find one that shoots...also have several pounds of H4350 if the IMR doesn't wanna cooperate.

I would think IMR-4350 or H4350 will be just fine. I,ve got four different bullets loaded with IMR- 4350 right now. 130 BT,s,130PT,s 130SGK,s and some new to me 130 E-TIPS. Certainly it is a powder I have had plenty of success with. Anyhow don,t forget to post your results when you get around to it. Enjoy that new rifle.

Yeah, I would think if you can't find a load with either of the 4350's and 130BT's there is something wrong with the rifle. That is a beautiful rifle. Can't wait to hear about it all set up. If you get a chance, check out the Ernie's the Gunsmith trigger spring ($7.00).. Other than that, I am betting it'll shoot like it's on fire..

Very nice..........really nice!! IMR4350 or H4350 will work great for you. By the way I just saw some 130 gr. Nosler Partitions on SPS blemished bullets for $13.95 per box of 50!! Wow a person should buy several at that rate. That would be a great bullet also.

When I did some load work with a buddies 270 I also loaded up some with IMR4350 and it worked very well. I already had a good one using H4831SC and Federal 215 magnum primers so I just stuck with it, but the IMR4350 was equally as good.

Thanks a bunch for the QuickLoad SJB...Since the 270's greatest attribute is its speed, I'd like to get as much as I accurately can out of it...looks like IMR has a slight edge in that department.

Its not like I could find any to buy...but I'm looking to try H4831SC in it...if I ever find any....if you don't mind, could you run the QL on H4831SC? I'm curious to see the speeds given...

The trigger...I'll probably turn the factory trigger down to about 4 lbs on it, same as I did my 30-06...don't really want it too light on a hunting rifle....mine turned out good, never really measured the pull...but its about right, crisp and clean.

The Featherweight was shipped today...should arrive at my FFL Friday...but I won't be home until around May 8th.

RR665,

With 130g bullets including the NBT, I have found H4350 and H4831 level-pegging for speed within pressure limits. I also couldn't really discern any difference in accuracy.

Only real difference I noted was the point of impact was about 1.5 inches lower for the faster H4350.
I thought that strange as the majority of my loads shoot pretty near the same POI, but I guess there's a different harmonic going on there.

Really nice rifle by the way. Make sure you remind your missus how lucky she is to have you!

That's great news. Can't wait till you get to shooting it. A powder I have gotten pretty fond of lately is RL17. It is sorta like the 4350's with some extra speed. It is worth looking into if you can get your hands on any of it.
