Spent a bit of time this morning using the binos & spotting scope. Came up empty - except for one critter in an overgrown clear cut. Never could quite figure out what was moving around down there... Suspect it was elk or bear, pretty good size and broke some branches. Sasquatch maybe? I only caught a glimpse of brown hair moving a little in the trees, several hundred yards away. Have hunted elk, bear and mule deer in this area. Didn't do a lot of hiking, mostly drove to areas where I could scan quite a bit of country. The doggone clear cuts are really growing over though. Getting hard to see into them. Might have to move my hunting to an area with less cover for game.

Jeep Hero pose - couldn't resist when I found a little snow remaining:

Yes, I've been up there, but it's a bit of a hike... More than I wanted to deal with this morning!

Enjoy the photos. I sure enjoyed my morning. Have to admit that I use "scouting" as a great excuse to get up into the hills.

Guy,
As usual, great photos submitted. I could just jump in that stream right now with the hot temps here in Tennessee. I can see them now up in that bowl pic, just standing there taunting you.

Don

Good stuff, Guy! I'm with Don on wanting that stream in my back yard with the high temps this week.

Guy,

Those are some great pictures. Pretty cool to see snow in the middle of July!
Sure is some beautiful country.

Beautiful guy, great pictures. Its seems funny to get comments on the snow, we are used to seeing it on the mountains all year long. I think the animal you heard was probably a Heffalump, the are common to the north of us.

Here is a poor shot of the hills behind near Bend Oregon. Three weeks ago!

This one came out better than I thought so one more.
Guy forgive me adding to your post.

Guy, what is the situation with the Yakima Indians killing all the elk that they want to shoot at any time, out-of-season, on Umtanum Ridge and the mountain areas and winter range around but not within their reservation? With elk numbers declining in Washington, all we need is for indians to do what they have done to Chinook salmon populations by disobeying the rules.

Scouting the mountains is pure pleasure at this time of year, and you do have some lovely mountains in your AO. As has been stated, thanks for sharing your country with us.

Thanks guys.

Elkman, good stuff.

Did I mention the mosquitos today? Lots of 'em - and apparently hungry...

OT3 - that's a whole different subject, and you probably have as much knowledge on it as me.

Great photos guy, looks like the same kind of country I saw when I traveled through the Olympic National Forest two weeks ago. (Leave the rifle home, take a shotgun).

Thanks Guy for the beautiful photos :) we all like to get that trophy but the scenery and majesty is what it is about for me :) Thanks again.

Blessings,
Dan

Great photgraphy as per usual Guy! I always check out your posts in case there is some cool pics, you seldom dis-appoint.

Well thanks there Super-7. I appreciate the compliment.

Happen to live in an area that is full of natural beauty, and I enjoy it daily. Don't mind sharing it at all.

Someday I may treat myself to a good SLR digital camera... Believe I'd enjoy that.
