No. I sure didn't. Can you send me a link or something?

Got it from my late cousin. It's seen some hard use in it's day. I still haven't shot it, but I think I might when I'm on my Christmas break. I'm thinking about getting it refinished, and the stock has a split in it around the tang that I want to fix.
eta: I have a receiver sight that I swapped FJ4E for that I need to bolt up, too.

Do not fire it until you fix it.
This is the 99's Achilles heel!

He took a lot of deer and elk with it. My dad shot his first deer with it in the mid '50s and I shot my first deer with it in 1982. With any luck, my son will shoot his first deer with it in about 6 years. It's hard to see in the pictures, but it has the cartridge counter on the left side near the front of the reciever. Thanks to this thread, I got it out of the safe for the first time in about 5 years. It hasn't been shot in at least 25 years...probably more. That's so wrong on so many levels! I need to fix that. It's in remarkably great condition considering it is well over 50 years old. Glad to here that there are so many 300 Savage fans around here.

I find it interesting how many of the posts in this thread contain the words "my grandpa bought it" or something like that. I'm obviously not the only one with that great family history in a rifle. Those of us that have that are very lucky.

As much as i like the open sight 99 my eyes demand the scope for real hunting.
