I have a flat top upper 6.5 Grendel and a Vortex Viper with a 44mm objective. I would like to use Burris Signature Zee Rings 30mm so I can get adjust it to get more elevation so I can shoot longer ranges. Can I get by with just extra high rings or do I need to get a riser for the flat top to gain height and to set the scope closer to the muzzle end to have eye relief? Please suggest what way to go here and what size rings/riser I would need.

WT, I sent you a PM with the inserts that'll get you corrected for the your elevation issues. Also, I think you'll need high's in order to get good eye alignment with a scope. Sometimes an extra rail will give you some elevation as well.

Look at the Leupold Mark 2 IMS AR mounts in 30MM as i just used one on mine and it set me like 2.7 inches from bore to scope axis measurements! and bore sight went really well with out loosing too much travel
