Settled on a LR rig

I think you've made a fine choice.

That rifle looks to be well set up and should serve you well. FN doesn't make junk. In my humble opinion I think the recent build quality of the new Winchesters is because they are now owned by FN. I'm of the opinion that the recent Winchester rifles are the best they've ever produced from a functional and accuracy standpoint.

Vince - I agree.

And the FN rifles are essentially just the Model 70 action anyway... Which is GREAT in my book. Several years ago I saw one of the FN's take the "cold bore shot" award at a regional military & police sniper competition. That was against a lot of custom built rifles costing far more.

Re the .308, it's an excellent place to start, and after you wear out the first barrel in 5,000 - 6,000 rounds or so, you'll be able to re-barrel it to whichever hot new 6mm or 6.5mm is in vogue at the time!

Enjoy! It should be a dandy rifle!

Right, and after 5000-6000 rounds you will be sick of getiing smoked by the 6 and the 6.5 mm rounds that are vogue at the time.

Im still on the fence. Once I move and am all settled, and the money is up, I will begin. it definitely will be on a CRF action, and I really really dig the FN...Just thougjt 308 would be an ideal starting point then when I tired of getting smoked I will just rebarrel to 6x47 lapua :)
