I had this spot stored up in the back of my mind for a while now waiting on Nathan to be old enough for deer hunting. It’s only about 900 feet off a dirt fire service road ,so it’s not a long walk, although it is all uphill. It’s pretty much surrounded by mountain laurel thickets, that open up to this small open area that’s about 3/4 of an acre. So pretty much if he sees it, it’s within his range ability. There’s a ton of fresh sign where they’ve been going after the acorns. And turkey have it scratched up. I think the ground blind will be the best route for a first time hunter. Of course I’ll be right beside him. It’s a little early to set it up on public land for rifle season, but I’ll probably let him tag along while I hunt with X-bow for a doe and fall turkey.
