My Dad was a patient, and my mom is currently, at UofM Ann Arbor which is a far left community. They have both been asked the following questions...
Do you feel depressed?
Do you feel angry?
Any thoughts of hurting yourself or someone else?
Do you own any firearms?

I have never been asked any of those questions.

Once a year I get asked a line of those question

Those are standard questions across the country. This is because suicide with a firearm is one of the highest causes of mortality in the country in all age groups and especially youths.
They are trying to catch common problems before they reach that point. Same reason they recommend colonoscopies and mammograms-prevention is far better than cure.
Gentlemen, please relax. The world is not out to get YOU. Some of them actually want to help you. As a paramedic for over 20 years I see things in a much different light than some of you do. . .

As a Father of two nurses, one in a hospital ICU, and one in a Doctors office, I agree with everything you’ve said.
In NY medical staff is required to ask these questions, whether they want to or not.
I think sometimes we hold others at standards higher than we expect from ourselves.
I understand that they are not perfect, but neither are we.

I was asked how I identify. Told them i'm 65 don't start that B.S. That stopped the line of B.S questions. ASk me questions about my health not my life.

There are good doctors and bad doctors. For whatever reason my family has typicaly gotten the bad ones when left up to chance. My mom once got food poisoning while we were out of town and had to visit a doctor we weren't familiar with to figure out what was wrong. They started doing nonsense until my mom called my dad back to get her out. I could tell just by the way the nurse told my dad, "She wants to see you," when my mom sent for him that something was off about the nurse. After leaving with almost no help my mom looked up the place and found a bunch of information about shady stuff that had been going on with many of the staff for years. Not a safe place to get treatment.

There are good doctors and there are bad doctors. I've learned to make sure I know which one I have before getting treatment.

That’s the only good thing about being in Tucson. I know who some of the good doctors are. Just keep me away from teaching hospitals connected to medical schools. I’m not willing to be a practice dummy.

I find it almost impossible to get a straight answer when I ask how good is this DR. I always get "He is good" compared to who? The one is finished last in med school is still called Doctor. Just hope you do not get that "Good" one.
