Just got some new 340 brass and it measures 2.803 and min trim length is 2.815. Can you say stretch up on firing? Seems a little short doesn't it?

I've frequently had brand new brass come up short. I found that full length resizing everything and firing it once takes care of the problem about 99% of the time.

Not at all that unusual. This just ensures that you have lots of room to grow.

ou812,

dont worry about it.
It will shoot fine. After you shoot it and size it it will be right in line with your other stuff. There is no problem with it being off that little to the good.. (meaning short). If it was long then obvioiusly it won't chamber.

No worries. Use it

Thanks guys. I guess I have not had any new brass be that short. Fire away I will do.

Lucky You.

It just mean it will be that much longer before you have to trim it.

I hate trimming brass, so it's not uncommon for me to trim on the short side.

Weatherby magnum brass tends to stretch on the first couple of firings, partially because of the double radius shoulder. It will settle down after a couple of reloading cycles.
