shot a nice 8 point

Shot a nice 8 point whitetail this morning while still hunting into my spot just as a snow storm was hitting. I hit him in the neck face on at only 10 yards with my x bolt .270 wsm with a 140 gr BT. He collapsed right in his tracks and hardly even twitched. Still can't believe I got so close to a big buck like this and was able to make the shot through a small opening in the trees with the deer looking right at me! Definitely the highlight of my deer hunting career! He weighed 226lbs dressed.

Now that's a test of a bullet. See Scotty had it right all along testing those Noslers and other brands of bullets at 20 yards. Sometimes these shots do come really close! Congratulations on the great buck!

Thanks for the comments fellas, it was quite an experience and yes the nosler BT was really put to the test on a close range shot like that. As expected the bullet didn't exit and I never did find it , but it certainly seems to have done it's job! .

Man, I love me some Noslers. I know the 140 BT is probably way above its design with the WSM, but heck, it's a Nosler! Love to see the stresses put on a bullet up close. Scotty

Yes I am planning to have it mounted, I've waited too long and may not ever get one this nice again. My wife isn't real crazy about it but she will learn to accept it I'm sure.
