Thanks to those who convinced me to buy the 264 WM. I was pleasantly surprise at how well manner the recoil was. The 26 inch barrel must add enough forward weight. Looking forward to trying out some 130 and 140 gr AB. Found a couple previous threads with load data.

I also took out a new to me, Rem 700 mountain rifle in 280. This is one of the new stainless/synthetic rifles. I topped it with a Leupold 2.5-8 that I bought from BD1.

Loaded some 150 gr E-tips. Used RL-22 and IMR-4831. It much preferred the 4831.

Want to try the 150 gr long range AB. Hear people are getting pretty good velocities with the LRAB. Did not chrono the E-tips but them seems to shoot well.

Yep, that is a really nice looking gun you have there and a great round too. You are right about the 264 WM, it is a real performer with mild recoil.

You have a couple of excellent cartridges that will deliver under tough circumstances for you. I would be greatly surprised should someone find recoil on either of those rifles objectionable. They are mild-mannered game hammers.

Very nice Mountain Rifle. That is very sharp.

Yeah, the 264 Win Mag is a sweetheart. Recoil isn't bad at all and man, it'll wing those 130's and 140's really well. I love mine.

Great hunting rifle right there. Easy-handling, rugged and an extremely useful cartridge. Well done.

Eric, shot my 264 last night.. I shot the 1st three real slow, waiting about minute between shots.. Then right at dark, I tried to shoot the next three..

The first three are the norm for the rifle. I believe it was getting a little too dark for shooting on the last 3 three.. I had to try though..

I don't think I can beat the RL25/140AB combo.. It's a great shooting load in my rifle.

Traded some RL-15 for some Retumbo. So will give that a try.

The loaded rounds that came with the rifle are reloads, which I typically would not shoot other peoples, but....I am this time.

I would like to save my 140 AB for the Swede but will give some a try

You won't regret running the 140's in the 264. They are like peanut butter and jelly buddy.

I really like the Mountain Rifle, very clean and ready to hunt. The 264 is a great long range cartridge it has been overlooked for many years. Seems to becoming more popular.
Scotty that's a pretty nice group for nighttime shooting. !!

That 280 looks great. If you can, try the 140 and 150gn Sierra Game Kings with it. My 280 loves them.

Ran some 150 gr E-tips through the 280 Mountain. They shot pretty well. Used IMR-4381, which has been my go to 280 powder. Will continue to shoot.

My other Rem 700 280 really likes 160gr AB and I am going to try some 160 PT this winter.

After reading other post here, I ordered some 7828 SSC to try in the 280 and the 264 WM. Not sure I really need to push the 280 as the 264WM and 270 WSM are my speed calibers.

I was loading some 130 AB for the 270 WSM tonight and had bought some 120 gr 7mm BT today. This has me wondering where my 25-06 fits? Fairly new rifle to me and I have no bond to the rifle.

The armory already has
243
25-06
6.5 Swede
264 WM
270 WSM
7mm-08 (x2)
280 (x2)

The 264 WM will do anything the 25-06 will and more.
The 7mm-08 with 120gr BT runs very close to the 25-06.

Anyone want a nice Rem 700 CDL in 25-06? Have to ponder the 25-06 future a bit more.
