silhouettes at 65 yards. M1911A1?

Some of the larger silhouettes do not fall when hit with my Blackhawk using .38 Spl. lead bullets. Will my 1911A1 get the job done out to 70 yards? What .45APC load to use?

Steven - I don't know how big or hard set your silhouettes are.

The .45 ACP is pretty good at taking down the steel silhouettes on our police course. Mostly standard size "Pepper Poppers" and the like. We just train with standard 230 gr FMJ hardball ammo - the standard for 100 years in the .45 ACP. It runs good in the various guns, shoots with reasonable accuracy and knocks down steel silhouettes with good hits.

Not sure how big or heavy the targets are but I would think the 45 ACP with 230 gr FMJ loads would give you the energy you need to tip over the steel targets.

You would still have 300 fp of energy at that distance with the 1911 and 230 gr hardball. My issue would be drop with the 1911 at that range.

Since the range is 45 yards to 65 yards, I should be able to zero the sights for 55 yards and simply hold a tad high at 65 yards. No?
