So know that we know what we are hunting this year what rifles and loads will you use?????///

Well...since I don't really have a rifle...I guess I'll concentrate on archery season this year, lol...so it will be my Parker Tornado F4 crossbow.

Once again they have reduced the number of deer licenses available here in eastern South Dakota. Since I drew a coveted Any Deer License last year in our drawing I am quite sure I will not be hunting this year as there are only 400 Any Deer Licenses issued for my home county this year.

With that said after I acquired my H&R Ultra in .25-06 Remington I promptly sent in the receiver to H&R to be fitted with a .50 Caliber Muzzleloader Barrel thinking I could get a Muzzleloader License. Recently I discovered that South Dakota is only offering 1000 Any Deer Muzzleloader Licenses Statewide and they have eliminated all of the Any Antlerless Deer Muzzleloader Licenses for many eastern South Dakota Counties.

As such I may not be hunting anything other than Predators this year, in which case I will be using my 16" DPMS .223 and the H&R Ultra .25-06.

We won't find out exactly what we will hunt for a few more weeks until the LEH permits are announced.

That said for mountain goats it will be my 35 Whelen with 200 gr Accubonds, for moose the 35 Whelen with 200 gr TTSX bullets (need to kill something with them) or the 358 Norma Mag with 275 gr Woodleighs. For blacktail and mule deer I'm going to use the 260 Rem with 140 gr Ballistic Tips and 130 gr AccuBond, I'll probably use the AccuBond for the mulies.

Larry - I like that Eagle!

Wyoming Pronghorn and mule deer in two states - I see no reason to change from what has worked so well for the past eight years or so, the .25-06 Remington 700 CDL & 6x Leupold. This year I'll still run the 115 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets over Nosler's max recommended charge of Retumbo. That combo generates a modest 3120 fps with excellent accuracy.

For bear or elk... Hmmmm... I'm thinking .30-30 Glenfield and .30-06 Rem 700...

Gerry nailed the fact that we are still waiting to see what happens with the LEH. If I draw grizzly, it will likely be a 9.3X64 with the 250 grain AB or the 300 grain Swift A-Frame. For moose and elk, it could be any of a number of rifles, though the 35 Whelen with 225 grain AB is vying for attention this year. I've used the 325 WSM with 200 grain PT for both of these in the past, and I won't be hesitant to use this again. I need to get the 257 Bob out for whitetail this fall, though there are some other rifles begging for attention. Black bear should fall to either the 280 Rem with 150 grain ABLR or the 30-06 with 165 grain Hornady IB. I may pass on mule deer this fall; but if not, there are some fine rifles to tote afield. Anticipation is building.

We here in AB . Are the last in N/A to find out our draws.. Quite lame. Hope to be going after moose Elk, muley and Whiteys.
Hope to use stick and string for moose, rifle for the rest.
Had a customer with severe crop damage from gophers about 25 acres of canola ate so far.
So after work today I put the 17hmr to work it sure brings a smile putting the obliteration on a bunch of those rascals. Great practice aswell.

For bear or elk... Hmmmm... I'm thinking .30-30 Glenfield and .30-06 Rem 700...
30-30 with all of those real rifles your thinking about the 30-30.???? Where is the .375?

We have one more week for the Oregon draw, but I bet I will be using my .300 Mag for everything (elk, elk elk) and for deer and elk in Wa my Bow. Of course unlike some posting here, at this time I "only" have one tag. Great hunting alll!!!!!!!

Some time in the next week Oregon gets to see results online. Just found a rem 700SA ADL factory takeoff plastic stock. So I'll try to get my old 308 back in action. 150gr ballistic tips at 2800fps For deer.

As of now, crop damage deer will get the 338 RUM with 250 gr AB's at 3000 fps and the 280 AI with 150 gr ABLR's at 3100 fps. The 257 Roberts with 115 gr BT's at 3100 fps will also get some action.
Rifle season for WT deer will be with the 1895 Guide gun 45-70 with the 300 gr BST at 2100 fps. Muzzle loader late season will be loaded up with 2 777 pellets and the .458 300 gr BST. Late season doe will be S&W 629 Classic 44 Rem Mag loaded up with 240 gr JHP at 1400 fps.

IF I draw a MI bear tag, 1895 Guide gun 45-70 with the 300 gr PT at 2100 fps. MI Elk 338 RUM 250 gr AB at 3000 fps.

Still looking at WY antelope OTC doe tags. Would bring the 280 AI with 150 gr ABLRs and the 257 Roberts with 115 gr BT's.

Well, if I draw an elk tag, I will have the Model 70 35 Newton and the M70 338 Win Mag out there. Right now, I am waiting on the stock for the 338 and the scope for the 35..

I'd like to get my 348 Winchester out to hunt deer with the 250 Woodleighs. Seems like a smashing combo so far.

My son will have his 7x57 loaded up with 150 PT's for elk if he draws and my 270WSM loaded up with 150 PT Golds as backup.

Can't wait to find out how we do in the draws. Should be a decent Fall no matter what.

I'll probably smack a few more deer with my old 11-87 and Buckhammers. It's been working real well for me so far..

I put in for a damage control cow elk. If I draw that, Ruger M77 in 300 win mag w/200 grn Partitions. If I don't draw, then over the counter elk archery tag, Bowtech Assassin with Viper Trick 100 grn broad heads.

Then over the counter blacktail deer rifle. Rem 700 270 win w/140 grn AccuBond.

270 Weatherby magnum Lasermark stoked with 140 grain boat tails for elk, mules, whitetail and antelope. Heavy charge of Reloader 22 and WLRM primers. I will be sticking with the IMR 7828 after the Reloader 22 is finished. It is too inconsistent from lot to lot for my liking. I also have a great increase in velocity with the IMR 7828.

.338RUM with 225 grain partitions and for back up .300WSM with 180 grain Sierra Gamekings for Colorado Elk. decided to pull out my 336 in .35 Remington for deer in maine. For piggies in Florida I really like my old Ruger deerstalker in .44 mag. 240 grain soft points work great.

I am thinking....

240 Bee for antelope
7mm bee for deer
340 Bee for elk.

Going with,

375 H&H for Black Bear
375 H&H for Moose, 7mm Rem Mag for back up,

7mm Rem Mag for Caribou and Deer,
Lou
