Nosler4, let me ask a few questions and please do not take this in a negative way because it certainly is not intended.

Is the rational to not build a 30-06 based on one or all of the following questions are a combination of questions?

1. Are there too many companies building the 30-06 for the Nosler Custom rifle to be competitive in this cartridge and because of capital Nosler is not willing to go with the 30-06?

2. Is there a bias toward the 30-06 cartridge by those or someone in the group who is in charge of making the decision whether or not to build the 30-06?

3. Is there a concern over being able to produce a Custom rifle in 30-06 that would have consistent accuracy?

4. Is there the concern that the 30-06 is such a popular cartridge that it would reduce the sales of the Nosler Custom rifle in other cartridges that Nosler has decided to go with?

5. Does Nosler assume that there is a uniqueness ascribe to their product by not going with a general, all purpose, popular cartridge like the 30-06?

Please take these questions seriously and present them to others at Nosler for their collective response. I think many of us would like to know and if no one else would like to know the answer to the above questions, I would. Thank you for any consideration. bullet :)

Official Response is: We just haven't gotten there yet! We had to walk before we could run so to speak. We came out with the 300 WSM for our first rifle--that gave us a short action to work with, so it was an easy step to produce the 270 WSM and 325 WSM followed by the 260, 7mm-08 and 308, 22-250 and 338 Federal.

We chose the 280AI for the second rifle because of its uniqueness and great ballistics. This required us to design a standard length action to accommodate the cartridge. Now that we have the standard length action, we will begin producing calibers like the 30-06 and the 270 Win as well as the 280AI and 6.5x284 Norma.

1. Are there too many companies building the 30-06 for the Nosler Custom rifle to be competitive in this cartridge and because of capital Nosler is not willing to go with the 30-06?

Nope, the Nosler rifle is unique. If a guy (or lady ) wants a Nosler, it's not just because it's chambered in a particular caliber, but because of everything else that makes it a NoslerCustom rifle.

2. Is there a bias toward the 30-06 cartridge by those or someone in the group who is in charge of making the decision whether or not to build the 30-06?

Not at all. It was simply a matter of getting a handle on what we have already before we add any more irons to the fire.

3. Is there a concern over being able to produce a Custom rifle in 30-06 that would have consistent accuracy?

No concern whatsoever.

4. Is there the concern that the 30-06 is such a popular cartridge that it would reduce the sales of the Nosler Custom rifle in other cartridges that Nosler has decided to go with?

Nope, if that was the case we wouldn't have chambered a rifle in 308 either . I don't think anybody would be too upset if we sell 10 times as many 06's as 260's.

5. Does Nosler assume that there is a uniqueness ascribe to their product by not going with a general, all purpose, popular cartridge like the 30-06?

We went with the 280AI because it was something "new" and different but that's not going to stop us from chambering a rifle in the 30-06, or a 308 or a 22-250.

Hopefully that answered your questions and addressed any issues. If I missed anything or didn't satisfy your curiousity, let me know!

Personally, I can't wait for the '06!

The 30-06 is a great caliber. It will be a great offering for the Nosler rifles.

Nosler4, thank you so much of taking the time to answer my questions, that means a lot and I am impressed. I know I will be looking forward to the 30-06 being produced and it surely will be in a fine rifle. Thank you
