Well guys, I never thought this would happen but I was playing on the gun sites and placed a bid on a rifle :shock:! Well low a behold I won the bid and now I am in the process of finalizing the sale and I am the proud owner of a Model 70 Featherlite 8)! I am not quite sure how this happen but there is one problem someone improperly installed the bolt & I am not sure how I can repair that problem but will figure out something:mrgreen:.
Will try to give all the details once EMT & transferred ownership goes through.
Also one other thing about this bolt it is on the wrong side of the receiver :shock:!

...might just be you need to cock the bolt before you try to put it back in the reciever. Look to see if the cocking bar on the bottom of the bolt is in the lower forward position, or if it's up in the rear notch...
 
It should be a straight-forward task to correct the bolt, Dan. Are you sure it isn't a Featherweight, rather than a Featherlite? I'll be looking forward to what comes of this.

Well, you can say about me nailing that one, "Even a blind hog finds acorns once in awhile." :shock: The Featherweight is one of my favourite rifle designs, if not my absolute favourite. What cartridge did you pick up, Dan. Man, I'm excited for you.
 
Well Mike it is going to be quite adjustment trying to get used to a right handed rifle :shock:. But I am willing to try it is a 270WSM. I hope to have a photo to you to post a little later this afternoon.

Actually one of my two boys are going to shoot this rifle. But I will be doing the load development :wink:. Look forward to being able to get it to shoot little groups!!

I've had a lot of success with two 270 WSMs, Dan. I've had exceptional success with the 130 grain E-Tip. However, my current iteration of this rifle shoots 140 grain ABs quite well. Scotty has a lot of success with 150 grain pills. I believe you will find that it shoots about anything reasonably well. Congratulations!

One of these should work for you Dan. They've worked across several platforms.

RP, Barnes 130 grain TSX, F215GM, 58.5 grains H100V, 0.100 inches off the lands

RP, WLRM, Hornady 130 grain InterBond, 67 grains VN165, 0.010 inches off the lands

RP, WLRM, Nosler 130 grain AB, 63 grains IMR 4350, 0.020 inches off the lands

RP, WLRM, Swift 130 grain Scirocco, 67.5 grains RL19, 0.010 inches off the lands

WW, WLR, Nosler 130 grain E-Tip, 59.5 grains RL17, 0.0100 inches off the lands

RP, WLR, Swift 140 grain A-Frame, 59 grains H100V, 0.010 inches off the lands

WW, CCI250, Nosler 140 grain PT, 72.5 grains H1000, 0.010 inches off the lands
 
Dan, great rifle! Congrats!

My 270WSM is fed a steady diet of 65.5 grains of RL22, WW cases, CCI250's, 150 Partition at 2.860" COAL. It chronos at 3125FPS from my rifle and is pretty accurate. I run all the same stuff for a 150BT as well, just an extra .5 grains for the BT.
 
Consequently, Dan, all the loads I listed give me sub-MOA accuracy and good velocities. None are maximum velocities, but all give good velocities.
