I found a Remington 750 in 35 Whelen today for $600. I am guessing it has less than 20 rounds down the pipe. The action and the entire rifle are mint. There was not even a scope mounted on the rifle in the past. I asked if they would take $500 but the store manager said no. If it would have been a pump, I would have put in on lay away. They have had it for 6 months so I am not too worried if I change my mind in the next few days.

That would have been a fine rifle to secure. The price isn't too bad, either.

My thought is, it has been there 6 months and if it is there next time I go to the store then maybe it is meant to be. With a new house, bear season coming and a 6BR build going right now, money is a little tight.

I had a hunch that might be the place

I don't have any fun $ at the moment but it sounds like a nice buy for someone

That is not a bad price @ all. Once you have a 35 Whelen you will belong to a very exclusive club & be the envy of many

This man speaks the Gospel!

When Remington first brought out the 35 Whelen I couldn't wait to get one. I wanted one that was pump action since I was so fast with my 870 Wingmaster. I walked into my LGS and ask the man to show me a 35 Whelen only to be handed a Remington 700 bolt action? I asked "don't you have one of these in a 7600"? Which he did and handed me the rifle which left with me that day.

But as much as I liked the slick action of that pump gun it wasn't a tack driver! I sold it a few years later and since then I've had two other Whelen's, a Remington Custom Shop Alaska Wilderness 700, and the custom Belgian FN Mauser '89 I found in a nice piece of walnut. It now is in a High Tech stock from Mark Bansner and converted to a BDL using Sunny Hill bottom metal that wears a Swarovski 1.5-7x42 scope. Nice gun and I love hunting with the old Whelen.

But an autoloader? Don't do it! Sorry but "friends don't let friends buy autoloaders"! Stick with a bolt action.

A friend here has a 750 35 Whelen. It will not reliably cycle factory ammo, his will cycle book max charges with poor accuracy. I know it's a sample of one but it's the 2nd one he has had and that's how both have acted.

If I can not get the 338WM shooting soon, I t will be sold and the money will go to a pump action 35 Whelen.
