Spring bear permit

It's time to dust off the 450 Marlin. I drew a spring bear permit for an area about 15 minutes from my house. I had this permit two years ago but only hunted 3 days due to a family death. I was packing the .348 Winchester in hopes of breaking it in back then, but later that year took a nice whitetail with it. I haven't harvested anything with the 450 in over 10 years so I figured it's due a turn.

Good for you! Man, we'll all be pulling for you. That 450 will deliver a wallop to any bruin you find. Are there many colour phase bears in that area? What size do you normally encounter there? Yeah, bears can get me some excited.

Good for you on pulling that bear tag :wink: that 450 will likely send him for a loop . I can wait for the photos and a good story!!

Thanks guys. There are quite a few color phase bears in that area but I've never had one in my sights. I've seen some big bears and a buddy took one he couldn't roll over by himself on an old skidder road. There's no snow here this year so I'm not sure if that's good or bad, we'll see. I'll keep everyone posted.
