The squirrel shooting wasn't as good as some years, but I did manage to go through about 500 rounds over the 3 days we were able to shoot. It rained and snowed quit a bit most days except Tuesday and Wednesday.

We were camped at the normal spot near Fort Bidwell by a nice little lake that has great rainbow trout fishing in the summer. Temps were low 30's and high 20's at night.

Hope no one is offended by a few pictures of the "results" :)

Joel,

Those are great pictures of some beautiful country. That lil' 204 Ruger sure has some impressive terminal results.
Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.

It looks as if you managed to provide meat for a few raptors and crows. Good show. Each of those rifles appear to be winners. Thanks for sharing.

I'm expecting a similar shoot this summer on Standing Rock with you!! The p-dogs will look like groundhogs after seeing how small some of the squirrels were. I thought I was shooting mice half the time. We needed more warm sunny days to bring out "skippy".

It is interesting to watch all the different birds come in and feed after you start shooting. We had two golden eagles that stayed out on the squirrels over 300 yards, but there were hawks, crows and gulls that were constantly feeding around the fields. We had one yote come across a field about 700 yards out when I first noticed it. I did take a couple pokes at it, but the closest shot was only within 10 feet.
