Well the orange hordes are about to hit the woods in Mn. Its all laying on the living room floor. Will need to stop at the range and finish siting in the 16ga. for My BIL first thing in the a.m. :x He called tonight and said "well since your daughter isnt going with....would you have an extra gun I could use?  Supposed to be about 39 degrees with good chance of rain & snow saturday and sunday. The worst day hunting is still better than the best day at work....CL

Best of luck Troy, I know that you will be having a great time. I shouldn't say this but can't wait for the story and photos
Have fun, shoot straight and be safe.

Blessing,
Dan

I shouldn't say this but can't wait for the story and photos

And the reason Dan shouldn't say this is...? Come on, tell us, Dan.

Well, the short version of the story is.... poor balance, buck fever like I havent had sine I was 16, and a 90 yard off hand shot with the ol'e slugg gun, means I missed   . Below you will find some pictures I took a couple weeks ago when I set up my "scrape". (Yes- I fell victim to the marketing....) and a bad picture of the buck I think I missed. Another guy from our party shot the nice eight point you see below. We think it was probably the same one. Just finished butchering. It is really almost as much fun as the hunt. 10-12 people, wives and kids from age @12-80. Lots of laughing and stories from each others hunts. And fresh "hanging tenderloin on the grill. Even the worst day of hunting..... Sure wish I wouldnt have missed as I did put some work and way too much $$ into this years hunt but so it goes...

I dont have pictures from the main part of the Valley where we hunt but here's some from "up on top" where I can get too. For some reason I didnt get pictures of the crew this year....

The neck shot was a "finisher" there another 12 ga slug hole in the ribs on the other side.

Another guy who has been with us for eight years took his first deer this weekend (he was very picky about the "right shot" great guy good man to hunt with. He took his nis doe with a lone eagle 30-06 and a 150 PT There I got in the obligatory Nosler plug too. CL

CL, That is a great report. That is also a dandy buck. "Buck fever?" After many years, it seems to afflict all of us. After the fact, we can smile; at the time, it is infuriating. There is nothing so gratifying as time spent away from the mundane with friends and family. Thanks for filling us in on your time away.

CL - sorry you missed - but that's hunting.

Good photos of what must have been a real good hunt. Thanks!

Guy

Tall- My season in Mn runs the 3rd through the 11th. However, my Father in Law lets my Mother in laws cousins family hunt he last weekend. After all,the land we hunt was homesteaded by her family. Even if I could get the time off and had the help I couldnt afford another motel bill. :) Its Ok, I'd like to get a chance to take a few squirrels yet this fall. Maybe....CL
