Anyone done any load testing yet? Have you seen excess pressure with good old standard type loads like 75 gr. RE22?

That is my go to load for the 300 Win Mag, shooting sub MOA in three different rifles with the 180 gr PT.

For the 180 gr E-Tip, start off with the listed start load of 71.5 grs and work up to the MAX(Mid Range Load) of 73.5 grs. Watch for pressure signs.

I could only go a max of 67 grs. of H4831sc in my 300 WM using the 180 gr. E Tip. Velocity was running a tad under 2850 fps. At 68 grs. the bolt was very hard to lift. This is in a 26" Lilja barrel.

I'll be trying some other powders as I don't think H4831sc is going to get it done.

I loaded 3 - 3 shot loads for my .300 Win. Mag. (Savage Model 114 Classic) This is a new gun, so I don't have a lot of load data yet. I bought some Federal Factory loads with the 165gr Nosler Solid Base. They shoot about an inch at 100 yards, handloaded 180gr accubonds shoot about the same, 165gr B-Tips also shoot about the same.

I loaded from the minimum load to the mid load with RL22. The first was 71.5 grains of RL22 and shot a 1.5 inch group, the second was 72.5 grains was a 2.5 inch group and the third, 73.5 grains and shot a 2 inch group. No pressure signs on any of them. I did not chronograph any of them and I may mess with the OAL, although I loaded them to fit in the magazine.

I sure wish I didn't live in California as I've shot a 1 3/4 inch group at 300 yards with the 180gr AccuBond in my .300 Win Mag and a 2 inch 300 yard group with my .25-06 with the 110gr AccuBond. Right when I got the Accubonds dialed in for both rifles, we find out we can't hunt with lead!!!

20" barrel weatherby vangard using h1000 and reloading data for 190gr match hpbt to work up from. 2890fps. i'm done messing with this gun.

20" magnum barrel?

sounds like a 34" 10 gauge quail gun....... does not make any sense................

I use imr 4831 and was told the max load is 71gr but I seldom if ever load to max .

At least it's not the whole state just the political tree hugger imaginary condor home range. These birds don't land in brush or forested areas they have to have a clear area to land & a clear area to run to get airborne

20" barrel? seems i read somewhere ruger thinks a 20" magnum might work ok. anyway now i have a good shooting weatherby vangard that USED to be a 4" group shooting POS. it now also shoots 200gr partitions good

There was an article on the new short barreled rugers in the latest rifleman. It turns out the real secret is a new powder that Ruger is holding as a closely guarded secret, and refusing to sell to handloaders. I guess they are afraid that if we can get the powder, we won't need their rifles.

winchester 780 has to be simular  read that artical this AM 165gr hornady sst at 2992 out of a 20" ruger hawkeye. very simular to my 20" vangaurd with 180gr Etips at 2890fps. bet i can push 165 AB's at 3050 fps

Got behind the chronograph yesterday with the 180gr E-tips/.300 Win Mag. As stated above, I've settled on 71.5gr of RL-22. I fired 3 through the chrony and regisered...2,922fps, 2,992fps and 2,970. The group, again was not great, but I think I'll settle on this load. I'm happy with the velocity. No pressure signs at all.

My buddy loaded a few 7mm 150gr. E-Tips in his 7mm-08. He loaded them 1/2gr below the mid load for the 150gr bullet in the Nosler manual. He has the 140gr Ballistic Tip moving along around 2,750fps, but the E-tips we clocked in the low 2,400's and showed no pressure. He'll be working on a hotter load.

IMO accuracy is first, velocity is second. The 70 fps ES may account for the large groups. If the bullet doesn't go where it needs to, what difference does it make how fast it got there?

Tell your buddy to work around 44-46 grains of IMR 4350 and he should see near 2800 FPS. At least I did in a 24 and 26" Encore barrel using 46 grains (book max) with 140 ballistic tips and accubonds. Both rifles shot under 3/4" at 100. One prefered the AccuBond and the other prefered the ballistic tip.

not a lot of choices for bullets yet in california. AB and BT are not on that list anymore for a lot of countys
