I got a new 30-06 recently and am beginning to work up some loads for the E-Tips. Ive never used a monolithic bullet for reloading and was looking for some suggestions to start. Looking for power/charge/distance from land information that has been successful for you

Also do you think the 150 grain bullet is "good enough medicine" for things ranging from antelope-deer-elk-black bear? Would like to work up a "do it all" load once since having kids has cut into my tinkering time. Thanks as always

I would be quite comfortable with a 150 grain E-Tip in my 30-06 for most of the game I hunt. I mean, a 140 grain Partition or A-Frame will handle nearly everything in my AO, and do so with aplomb. Thus, the 150 grain E-Tip will perform quite well. I've taken game with a 150 grain GMX in my 30-06. I used a stiff charge of IMR 4831; it shot MOA and gave me ~3000 fps. More recently, I've worked with both the 165 grain GMX (sub-MOA and ~2900 fps) and with the 168 grain E-Tip (MOA and ~2900 fps). Either will do what is required to bring game home.

Check out hogdon.com they have some very specific loads for the etip. In general most people say. 050 off the lands is a great place to start. Some of the newer etips have a band that will likely reduce start pressure a bit.
I played w/the 150e tip a little and didn't find it finicky. I got at least average accuracy for my gun but didn't try further tuning w/seat depth or slight powder changes. I4831 and 4350 both worked pretty good.

My experience with the 150 gr E Tip was with Big Game and H 4350, H 4350 was quite accurate at around .110" off the lands. Like was mentioned already Nosler has changed the E Tip and who knows exactly what depth will work but trying different depths is a good idea. Big Game gave good speed but average accuracy but every gun is different and yours might do well with it. Like DrMike said I would hunt everything in this area big or small and feel good about it.

Ugh...this Is why I stopped trying to play with barnes. The darn relied grooves keep lining up the the end of the case and I couldn't get a secure fit. I hope that would be the case or Ill have to take them back

The etips w/a band only have one band...it won't affect seating neck tension at all. I load alot of Barnes bullets too and have never had neck tension trouble....not sure what you ran into there. Is it you feel the need to crimp or something?

I've used 150gr E-Tips in one of my 30-06 and .050" off the lands about same as I use with Barnes bullets. They shot so good got about 4/5 box as those last me for couple years and may try box of new ones and work those up using same powder H-4350.

My other 30-06 using 180gr Partition.
