I picked up a Kimber Hunter in 6.5 CM a couple years ago. Previous owner had shortened the barrel to 18 inches.

I use it when doing short backpacking trips in cascades after Aug 1st as black bear season is open and you never know what is eating the huckleberries.

Loaded 130 gr Accubonds and this rifle just shoots. Can't remember the velocity, but took it to the range yesterday and this is a 200 yd group that is not just a "one time" group but the rifle is consistent shooting similar group to this.

For a 5 3/4 lb rifle/scope package, I am impressed

was going to buy one in 280AI last summer, but the seller's son stepped up and asked for the rifle from his dad. My loss.

The 6.5 CM shoots so well, itt will do everything I want from it.

I was thinking about a backpacking rifle this spring as I was out of shape lugging an average weight rifle and pack around for bear hunting.
A couple days of thinking and i boy did i do a big loop of ideas; 1st-weatherby ti- backcountry 6.5rpm, 2nd-bolt action speciality pistol, 3rd-custom rifle with a folding stock, 4th- sig cross(because the gun cost the same as just a carbon folding stock) and what did I decide on...5th- red dot on a 500S&W- cheapest(already owe), lightest option. Ordered a reddot mount from EGW and picked up a vortex defender ST, for my 686 so I can practice and get used to shooting with a dot, I'll get another ordered for the 500 once I finally decide on the dot.
