Here in Michigan we are having an early doe season from 9/17 to 9/21 on private land in certain counties. I was invited to hunt a small piece of woods owned by my buddy's dad. I got there about 5pm and we hit the woods about 6pm. He sat down and told me to keep going about 200 yards to where some big oaks were. I got there and damn, I am not used to summer deer hunting. Everything is green and leafy! I was looking for a place to sit on the edge of the woods where I could see when I saw a huge deadfall. An oak about 3 foot in diameter had tipped over and was at about a 45 degree angle. Hmmmm. Bet I could walk up that tree and find a place to sit/lean/stand and see over all the vegetation. I got most of the way to the top of the tree, about 15-20 feet off the ground and was looking for a comfortable seat when I looked to the left. Three does were watching me, not the least bit concerned. Maybe they thought I was a big squirrel. I slowly got my TC Omega up and when the biggest doe put her head back down to eat acorns, I shot her in the back of the neck where it met her body. It took me longer to figure out how to get out of that tree than it did to gut her and drag her to a road. Guess I know where I will be hunting on Sunday!

Sorry for the picture quality, it was on my cell phone.

That's the way to hunt! Congratulations on a fine doe. She'll make great eating.
