I have been considering buying an 8 lb canister of surplus powder. One choice is the equivalent of BLC2 , the other of H335. Both have very similar applications for 223, 308 and 30/06 but it looks like BLC2 has the edge a little in velocity with max charges over the H335, from 30-10 fps depending on the application.

So my question to the board, which would you choose, BLC2 or H335?

a few factors to consder before answering:

which is cleaner burning

which is more consistent

which generally groups better (I know this can be highly rifle dependent)

TIA

Jim, the powders you are referring to are WC844, and WC846. They are chemically the same. The faster lots are labeled WC844 and loaded into the .223. The slower lots are labeled WC846 and loaded into the .308.

they are ball powders, run them at max pressure and they burn clean, they are temp sensative so work up to max in hot weather and cold, do not use winterized max loads in hot weather.

Use MAG primers with this powder. It all depends on which caliber you are going to be loading the most of as to which powder. If it is 223 then I would go with the fast one but if it is the other s I would go with the slow one because it will work with the 223 also.
