taping the muzzle?

I've used a cap made of plastic wrap with a rubber band around it and it worked well. I had found mud and debris in my barrel after a slip one rainy, wet day and that put the fear in me because I never felt the barrel hit. If it's dry weather I don't usually bother.

Like Gerry, I discovered that everything in the world would fall right into a .358" bore the first time I hunted with my Whelen. I just got back from a terribly unsuccessful bear hunt in Arkansas where I again carried it and I forgot to take something to keep buggers outa the barrel. I won't forget next time. I probably won't go back to the same place in Arkansas either---third year in a row of seein' NUTHIN.

I use the tips if those thin rubber gloves.
