This is to warn all who use's taxidermist. Be sure you you either know or a good friend refer you to a trust worthy taxidermist. Here's my story!
14 years i finaly drawn the 2006 Ochico unit (Oregon)antelope rifle tag.A budy of mine took me scouting and we saw many good bucks.August came around the corner and me and my boy was over there ready for the opener. My good hunting partner( Jack) and his son came over the friday before the hunt to go and hang out w/ me, He has never been on a antelope hunt before and the exxtra company is always good.Opening morning i busted a nice buck, But what was even better was his beautiful cape. We cleaned and took care of the cape the best we couldand headed down to put the antelope in the Paulina Store cooler. INGERSOLE Taxidermy was set up in Paulina ,Darwin Ingersole is out of Oregon city , Orgeon.I paid for the cooler and jack help Darwin and his boy Jordan Take the horns off. When i came out of the store Jack came up to me and said they really wanted my cape if i don't mount it because it was Really a nice cape, they wanted to buy it. I went ahead and had them do my mount .(wish i didn't) I got the mount back and my heart sank. They had kept my cape!!!Everytime i talked to him on the phone he talked around my markings on my cape. You know, Things like well in the pic the animals dead, Things like that.To sum it up i never got my cape back and i will always spread the word that he is a big theif and a rip off.I went to 6 differnt lawyers and nothing. So world web is the next best thing ....And to Darwin Ingersole = Your on my sh-t list.Hope you all looks at my pic's and you decide..Thanx for reading this post..Bob Dearborn (Lebanon, Oregon.)( Look at the chest strip-triangleon throat-throat stripe, crown in beteewn horns-rectangle brown patch on nose.

Beautiful speed goat, congratulations!
Sorry to hear about the bad dealings with your taxidermist.

I once had a similar issue with a big 11 pt MI swamp buck. 28" neck just under his jaw. I played hell getting my cape back from Dan Fitzgerald but finally did thanks to having several pictures. The state of MI ended up revoking his taxidermist license for other reasons. So I know how you feel.

You do have a beautiful mount.

Sorry you were not satisfied with you taxidermist. Beautiful goat and sounds like fantastic experience.

Really sorry about your problems with the Taxidermist. Suggestion:

Most professions have licensing boards to regulate activity of the people they issue licenses to..... to make sure they are ethical and don't tarnish the profession with shoddy work and unethical activities. Sounds like your experience fits into this function. Contact the state board that has the responsibility for Taxidermist and ask for the guide lines a "professional taxidermist" are suppose to follow. I feel sure these guidelines will cover ethical treatment of clients.

Outline carefully and accurately in writing your dealings with this taxidermist. Make copies of pictures to support your problem. Get notorized statements detailing your problem from all those who can support your situation. Contact the licensing board and lay out your case and offer to file in writing or to appear before a board meeting to file your case with them. Point out the sections of the guidelines the Taxidermist has violated and ask that they assist in getting your cape back and that they discipline this taxidermist. If you get no assistance from them file a complaint, along with your supporting data, with the state department responsible for appointing and overseeing state boards stating that the board isn't fulfilling its responsibility. The Governors office does this in SC. I don't know about OR. Keep good notes of who and when you talk with everyone along the way and the full content of each contact. Detailed & accurate notes can help tremendously. Be straight forward and honest and you may be surprised with the outcome. Contact JD338 and discuss his experience in dealing with a licensing board. He post regularly on this board. It may help you with your project and I know he will be delighted to help in any way he can.

May sound a bit drastic but it could produce enough "clouds " over the Taxidermist and/or board to get some attention. It is also the proper avenue to follow in weeding out undesirable people from a profession. It will put on record your dealings with this particular Taxidermist and there may be other complaints already on filed against him.
