Tennessee Rifle Deer opening Tomorrow

Heath,

That is passingly strange that there were no bucks chasing the does you saw this morning. On the other hand, I haven't seen all that many bucks chasing does this fall either. It has really warmed up here today; it is -5 now. I'm headed out tomorrow to see if I can tag a buck or two. Surely I can drop a mule deer buck!

I thought it was very odd that there were no bucks in tow. We are out of school for the rest of the week, I am a teacher not a student :), and I can honestly say I am not fired up about being in the woods. 65 and windy/rainly tomorrow, 55 and rain Friday, 40 on Saturday and Sunday. Sat/Sun look good but I left my stand out so it looks like the wet arse for me!

Where are you at in TN Don? I am in Oneida, above Knoxville on the KY line.

Mike, good luck with the Mulies, it would be pretty awesome to get to hunt them.

Heath,
I'm in Spring Hill, Hunt In Hickman/ Lewis County Area. Getting anxious to flatten a deer with the 35 Whelen, but refuse to shoot some little doe that's 50lbs. just for sandwich meat. I've traveled through Knoxville many times on Business Trips, the Mountains around Bristol look like good Deer Territory.

Don, hope you get to use your Whelen! It is a big favorite of mine! Hope to use mine a little this year! Scotty

Thanks, the bucks are rutting strong locally hoping to get something this Sat. Had a Buck with a doe for 5-hours at my tree stand this past Sat. the buck circled under my tree 3 different times, never could scent me and actually approached the ladder and looked straight up at me. We couldn't have been 17-18ft. apart eye to eye. He never could figure me out. Just a small spike buck. Waiting for something bigger. What an experience that was!

Don
