Question! If I'm shooting test loads though my chronograph to try and find a velocity node, is it necessary to shoot beyond a 100 yards?

I'd say no - but you could also look for a node on paper if your shots were farther. If you were lucky, the velocity node and the flat spot on paper (where impacts cluster) would be the same. And if that happened, you should rush down to 7-11 and grab some mega-million tickets. :D
