We had a great hunt other than the 37 hour 2 way drive done in 3.5 days, that is.
Stephan and I took 2 pigs total. Hi with his 325 WSM and me with my 356 Win 94 big bore.
Came back with 2 pigs and 3 whitetail does. Not too shabby. Good to be back though.

Awesome pictures and smiles on their faces Pop! Looks like Stephen really shoots that rifle! Have you eaten any of your pigs yet? Scotty

Congratulations!

I see it was a bit drier than the last time we were down there. :p

Good to see that the 200 grain Partition works out of that 325 for Stephen. And I always have to appreciate success with the 356. Man, that picture is classic. You done good, for sure.

Fotis,

Thats great! Looks like you had a great time. Stephan shoots the 325 WSM well, nice looking hog.

Fotis-We sure enjoyed hunting with you and the kids! Hopefully, it won't be 5 years before you get back here next time.

George-You're welcome back too! I'll see if I can arrange a Texas Visa for you........

We ended up with 15 folks, 12 hunters and 3 observers. We took 13 whitetail does, 1 Axis doe, 5 hogs, and 1 raccoon.

Bob

This was our group.

This is the view from the deck of the lodge. The ranch is 2,500 low-fenced acres.

One of the best hunts ever, for me......

Great hunt and it's always great to watch the smiles on faces of the newer hunter. Looks like some good pork and venison happening there tool. Congrats on a fine hunt 8)

BTW the 356 Win will in fact slam ham!

Looks like fun was had by all! Good work. I can't wait till my kid is old enough to go do things like that.

So Pop, is your new nickname going to be "ham slammer"? Looks like a great hunt and a great time, especially with the kids. Well done.

I tell you what. The night in the blind is not my cup of tea.
Mainly because I was very ill prepared scope wise. I enployed a 2x7x30mm Vari x 2 with a fine crosshair (older plum color). Looked great and I thought it would be great being vintage and all but it did cost me some pigs. However next time I will be ready.
Working on buying a euro 30mm with first plane reticle......

Great pics Pop,
Congrats on the success, looks as if you had a great hunt.

I used a heavy duplex on my rifle when I hunted them in 06 atop my .270 Win. Worked great I didn't have much of a problem as I was hunting during a full moon. Scope never got off of 4X and with the 40mm objective I got plenty of light to see those porkers.

Let us know how your Euro scope works out!

POP,

A Leupold Vari-X III 1¾x-6x with HD would be appropriate for that .356 lever-action, as would a Zeiss Conquest 4x.
