That's right, I finally got to here mine speak today. After almost 3 months I finally got to here it go Bang or should I say Boom. I will say it wasn't what I was expecting, next time I will wear something more than a T-shirt the Remington factory pad doesn't work very well.
The 200gr Hornady's grouped very good with Varget ( 4064 looked good also) and the 225 AB show promise with RL 15 once I get the over all length figured out they will be good also. I didn't load any 250gr bullets and right now glad I didn't.
I need a straight style recoil pad not one that the toe turns in and jabs you.
The Varget load looked like it should have been one one hole but I was stacking the shots one on top of the other. The new Vortex Diamond Back HP scope worked like a charm. The MOA duplex cross hairs could have been a little wider but they should show up better in low light.
I'll post some pictures of the targets a little later.
Oh and thank you Lee for selling me a great shooting rifle.

Good show Roger.
The Remington recoil pad works as well as a brick. :)

You got that right Jim! If I had known I would have put a slip on pad over it and will the next time out if I haven't replaced it by then.
It's amazing how that little 1/4 inch rubber pad on my Ruger M77 doesn't dig in when I shoot it. Must be the way the stock is designed. :?:

Now aren't you glad you didn't change your mind?
Yeah once I get her figured out and a decent pad on her it will be my go to rifle. The 30-06 might see retirement and the 300 Weatherby might find a new home.

I like to remove them and use them to drive tent stakes into the ground at elk camp. Not sure what partof "pad" Remington does not understand.

That's the way its done, Rodger. We'll all be looking forward to pictures of the groups you produced.

Roger, I placed the 1" decelerator pad on my 35 Whelen and it is comfortable to shoot.
I am not sure if they come with a thicker one than that, I know that they have a 1/2 inch one.

Blessings,
Dan

I put a new pad on almost every rifle I purchase. I will select either a one inch Pachmayr Decelerator pad or a Limbsaver pad for almost every rifle purchased or built. I do have one Kick-eze pad which works reasonably well. No more than they cost, it is cheap insurance that I won't develop a flinch.

I have Decelerators on most of my rifles that have pads. That's just what came on them. I have a Limbsaver on my No1, as I got the stock with no pad. The precut Limbsaver fits perfectly.

My 300H&H has a period correct prewar stock. That means a steel buttplate. It is unkind to my shoulder

Thanks everyone.I should have known better than to shoot it in a T-shirt. I have never had a problem with recoil except with Remington Factory pads on shot guns, even the old M725 30-06 with it's metal but plate didn't bother me like the so called rubber ones do. I do have a decelerator pad on the B&C stocked 300Bee and it does help with it.
I'll look into a precut Limbsaver for it.

Well, you sure have put a damper on me shooting mine for the first time when I can get back to the range. Now I'm scared!! No, not really. I have a Limbsaver slip on jobbie that I believe will fit and a Past Magnum pad to boot. I'm going to try it as is first and see how it goes. I have Nosler 225 and 250 PT's loaded along with some Hornady 200 gr bullets...probably try those first. Skinny shoulders need to be tested with the light weights early on.

Need my shipping address?

Or mine?!!!! HA!

Way to go buddy. I imagine a nice pad will tame it down a bunch. Mines got a Limbsaver and its pretty gentle.

I do believe Lee warned me and said he used a slip on pad. I've heard the limb savers melt with time and if you get cleaning fluids on it. Have they changed any since they first came out?

The recoil pads Remington puts on the CDL's are too soft in my opinion...

Glad you enjoyed that .35 Whelen. Very cool cartridge with a lot of history afield.

Guy

Thanks Guy I do like it a lot. The CDLs must have the new Remington gel pads on them. If it would fit my classic I would gladly trade you for it.
