When it comes to selling rifles I think we all have kicked ourselves for getting rid of one or two special ones.

Which one do you cry over?

Here is mine. I would kill to have it back~

Austrian Voere 2165 270 Winchester. 1 holer !!

Never cried over a rifle but I do regret selling:

Ruger Number One Varminter in .25-06, that shot .3's at 100 yards - factory.

Rem 700 Sendero in 7mm Rem mag, it was quite the 600+ yard rifle...

An early flat safety Rem 700 ADL in 7mm Rem mag with BEAUTIFUL walnut - heavy black streaks running through it. A great all-around rifle. Sold it to a buddy who instantly put it in a McMillan and re-barreled it to .300 Win mag. It's still a good rifle, more accurate than ever, but that beautiful ADL is gone forever. Sigh...

There was also a real early 700 Carbine, with the light 20" barrel in .30-06. I bought it as a basket case, literally a box of parts. Restored it. Sold it. Not sure why I sold it, but it's long gone. Was a real neat little rifle with a light 20" barrel. Pretty neat actually.

Don't regret selling the Model 70's in .25-06 (pretty, but inaccurate), 7mm mag or .300 Win mag. They didn't measure up to their reputation. Except the custom Model 70 match rifle, and it's gone to a better place anyway - with a young fellow who is learning to be a long range super-shooter. I don't regret selling it, though it was truly my best ever long-range rifle.

I've never quite forgiven myself for selling a Browning Eurobolt chambered in 7mm RM. It was accurate and attractive. I missed my minutes picking up a second, same chambering, that I was going to use to build a .358 Norma. I also question the wisdom of letting a Model 70 Featherweight chambered in 7mm Mauser slip through my fingers. Though I picked up a good .280 Remington in trade, I have serious doubts about letting a BLR chambered in .358 Win get away more recently.

Here's my tear jerker....

That was at a local auction about month or so ago. Before I divulge exactly what that is, I'll say I'm more of a shotgun fan than rifle fan. At the same auction was a Benelli Montefeltro 20ga that had my complete attention. I scored that one for about $550. But that rifle is a M70 Pre64 Supergrade in 375 H&H setting in a McMillan stock. It sold for about $750. After sales tax and premiums.... $890. Did I mention Supergrade??? :( :( :(

I don't wanna talk about it...the list if too long and painful. But here's an excerpt.

Sauer 202 .30'06....tack driver with light bullets.
A 1st issue Steyr Scout (that I recently replaced that via good fortune)
Forest Service contract M70 .375H&H.
Kimber Longmaster Classic .308 with a Kimber .22 Varmint to match.
Aschutz .222- didn't know what I had.
Weatherby Alaskan in .338WM.

Ruger 77 Mk II in 6.5x55, should have held on to it even though it was a right hand rifle.

The first rifle I purchased myself was a Model 700 ADL in 30-06. It shot great and I sold it. I really miss my 280 Remington, but I keep thinking some day it's going to be replaced if I build that 03-A3 action, find a Winchester Model 70, or a Ruger #1B in 280 Remington.  :|

You have to quit talking 'bout that .280, David, and cast a net to pick one up.

I will always regreat selling my first rifle ................ it was a Model 1892 Winchester SRC in 38/40 that I bought when I was 12 years old, with money I made from mowing lawns. My dad and I went to the guys house, and he had the Model 1892 in fair condition, and a flat minty Model 64 "Deer Rifle"sitting out on his kitchen table, And I could have bought either one for the same price..... $35. I bought the 92, and that was a "poor choice", as a deer rifle. But I will never forget how proud, I was of it, and to this day I remember the ser # was 224004. And I will probably never forget, some of the bucks I missed with it, or the ones I wounded with it..............................In any event, I sold it, and a Model 100 Winchester in 1974, to buy my first car with my girlfriend, I got $250 for both of them, and that turned into half of the cost of a 1969 Oldsmoble 442 with 36,000 miles on it! I thought the 442 was a huge deal, until I lined it up one nite with a 67 GTO with three douces. And he basically showed me that by 69 the american cars had already started down the backside of the power curve. Sorta like comparing the 38/40 to a .444!
The model 92 would probably bring about $1300 in todays market , the 442 that I compleatly distroyed in less two years, would probably fetch something like $15K at Barrets Auction .....................
Like a girl, I think you will always remember your first one?

Atta' boy, Scotty. David should get the message shortly. If the election goes as it should, he can purchase this in celebration. If, heavens forbid, it goes wrong, he should get it while he can.

Evil just evil Scotty! Though when I bought my 6.5 he sold a 280 that had darn near matching wood to mine and it was GORGEOUS!

I know Jake. I would love to have that rifle actually. Just not sure what to ditch anymore!

Did you send this to Pat?????

Sako finnbear in 30/06 First real hunting rifle that was not a cut up military rifle. Looking back, I would have not needed anything else.

Yes he did Mike!

If you click on the link for more photos it says the rifle sold in June so no worries for me!!! Yea !

I have never sold one that I regret. I have passed on a few over the years that I wish I would have bought... one being a NIB pre 64 featherweight in .308.

I have a few, in order of sale: a Mannlicher Schoenauer Model 1952, .270 Win fully stocked carbine, a Sako LNIB heavy barreled .222 Mag, Vixen that was a genuine 1/2 MOA rifle, a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade (1953) .257 Roberts in perfect condition and totally original and a 1936 Military Luger that my dad brought back as a trophy of the invasion of Berlin by Patton's Army.
