The Rodney Dangerfield of rifles!!

HA! Yeah Scott; that is like my line on the .270... I've heard that you can get one to shoot by rebarreling it to '06!

06? Is that similar to that classic 30-35 Whelen? Yeah I skipped the 270 Win and went straight for the 270WSM and have not looked back! Scotty

Too bad we can't have Model 70 shoot-off with my .270 Win Super Grade custom against all (Model 70-small bore Magnum) comers at 200 yards with Partition bullets just for fun. I have killed about 60+ deer with that rifle at up to 400 yards and only shot one deer more than once (my bad).

I don't have a Supergrade, but I do have a M70 Laminated 270WSM I would shoot at 200 in order to compare Charlie. Might be a cool contest for us. We all like to post targets anyhow. I am still in the dreaming stages of getting a Supergrade. Scotty

I think you two should submit targets to that "shot one and done" thread on the "hunting" thread!

That first shot is the one that counts... git 'er done w/ yer 270s!

I'll submit one including my 270 Improved (aka 30-06) in the interest of equal time  !

I have a couple targets with the 270WSM up on the One and Done. It is a good time. I think shooting some groups at 200 would be cool. Scotty

...does .325 WSM qualify as small-bore??? 200yd. cold bore day before elk season last year, Tikka T3 Lite .300 WSM on the left, Mod. 70 .325 WSM on the right...

Nice shooting Gene! What a great shooting pair of rifles those are! Scotty

Good shooting. guys, that was just my feeble attempt to remind those who make fun of .270's, that they have killed tons of game for 85 years now (since the Model 54 came out).

Shoot Charlie, I was thinking it would be a cool way for use internet guys to do some more friendly shooting. Being it is pretty easy to upload pictures and stuff, might be fun to have another venue for us Nosler heads to do something. If you can think of a good trial, post it up. I am game for it as well as a few others here are too I bet.

Heck, I would even try my hand at doing some field positions at 200. Kinda like our one and done I guess.

I do agree, that 270 Win is a deer killing machine. Scotty

Scotty, I will think about it. However, what I need to do before I go hunting again is get off the bench and do some shooting from a sitting position. I have probably killed 80% of the game that I have shot from a standard military sitting, legs folded, elbows inside knees, position. I almost never shoot prone because out west here everything has thorns and the brush is too thick to get down that far anyhow. Plus at my age, I may not be able to get back up again (LOL)! I have a shooting stick (single walking stick type) but do not use it that much. Maybe that is how we should be comparing groups and rifle practical accuracy, from the sitting position? Even one and up is more valid that way.

Charlie, I posted that exact same deal just now in the hunting section. I think we are running on the same track buddy. I called it "one and done 4th shot".. It is exactly what you just stated and I like to shoot from the sitting position as well. Very versatile and at least to 300 yards is pretty darned steady. Scotty
