The Land Cruiser does have a good reputation worldwide. They are a tad pricey here in Canada.

G'Day Fella's,

Dr Mike, they may cost a bit more but in my opinion, are worth every cent of it!

Unfortunately, this quality can't make up for My bad driving (see the fist image)!
I was driving to fast for the conditions, and nearly went over the side of the mountain!!!

Doh!

I definitely do not like going over the side of a mountain. I rode as passenger in one Datsun King Kab that rolled down a mountain side. Those types of crashes do wicked things to the body of most people.

G'Day Fella's,

The other image of the Battle Cruiser next to a 6meter high (20feet) snow drift, was taken at Mt Hotham Ski Resort in the Victorian high country.

Note the beautiful blue sky!
We were heading home after a week away bush Deer hunting (Sambar Deer)!
It rained, sleeted and blew a gale for most of the week!!!

Well, that's Hunting eh!

Doh!

G'Day Fella's,

Thanks for the kind words about my old bus!

Sask Boy, I probably have some photo's but will need to dig them up and scan them in etc.
Unfortunately, none of any Sambar Deer, whilst we put a couple up, neither my hunting mate Robbo or myself, got a shot off!
Hey, that's Huntin!!!

Doh!

The Land Cruisers have the same reputation as the old Willies jeeps, being tough and able to go places few other vehicles can go. I don't see many of them where I live and the ones you do see look like they have never seen dirt in their life. They are more of a prestige vehicle driven by the people with deep pockets. That is one large snow bank in the last picture!!

G'Day Fella's,

Year .257, same over here with the 100 and 200 series Cruisers!
Most of them, Never get off the black top!!!

Doh!
Homer

Oh sure, rub it in that you Ozzies can get cool trucks there that we can get in the US! Might as well talk about diesel powered pickups, too! :)

Yes, it does know how to Snow in Australia!

I think those are Oyster Shells. !!!!!! That must be a pretty infrequent event. Who much do you normally get and when. Great picture

G'Day Fella's,

Elkman, that snow drift beside the Battle Cruiser is on the main sealed road over the mountains, in that area.
I haven't traveled thru that way enough to say this is average etc but I would reckon, that amount of snow would be slightly above average!

This image would have been taken at the end of winter(August), early Spring (September)!
You need to remember, the seasons are reversed to yours, down here in the Southern Hemisphere!
As an example, today it was 32 degrees C or 90 degrees F!
It's 8.15pm here at present, and apparently, it's still 30 degrees C!!!

Happy New Year!

I knew the seasons were switched, I worked some fires in California a few years ago with a representative from one of your national fire brigades. We got quite friendly and was able to learn a little about your country. The vastness is attractive, the temps are not. I start melting at 80 F, hot weather is not my friend. Its really nice having you on here as a hunter and with another perspective.

G'Day Elkman,

Thank you for the kind words, much appreciated!

Yes Australia truly is a great place to live! Unfortunately, our politicians are ruining it at record speeds!!!
If you want, you can go to any number of beaches for a swim/surf etc and have the whole beach to yourself, for hours.
Luckily for me, I live inland from the coast about 100miles (as the Crow flies), and whilst it gets HOT here the Relative Humidity, is generally low in Summer.
Like less the 20% RH! So that makes the heat bearable.
As an example, I was out in my "Funshop" this afternoon, and it was 42 degrees C or 108 degrees F!!!
Thats OK, I have a break every hour or so and have a drink of water and or a cup of Tea, to slow down dehydration!

Doh!
