The Turdy-Turdy

180gr Nosler AB C-Grade with Leverevolution powder and WRE primers.
I’ve had these loaded up for some time waiting for the weather to cooperate. Finally today it worked out.
First group cold bore , first shot is slower.

Second group shot right behind the first.

Overall I’m pleased with how this turned out. I will admit shooting into the sun was tough. Might tweak on the COAL a bit on the next batch. The goal I have with this is pounding steel at 600yds.

Rick,
Nice work with the load development and shooting. Have you run the numbers yet for 600 yds? How far can you get with that speed before it goes subsonic?
Man, that looks like it would be a fun time shooting that load out to 600 yds.

700 is the limit. Now we all know that Nosler has a times over estimated their BC numbers. With these being those coated Grade-C bullets there could be a variance. The Arken scope has plenty of elevation in it , if it holds up😉

This little rifle seems like everything I’ve feed it. From cup&core , mono , and bonded it’ll eat them all.

Today I finally got the 30-30 to 600yds. First I had to get my zero for the 180gr AB , was wet at my bench. After I finished up with the 375Wby I went and set up at 600.
First hiccup was the Arken ran out of elevation , Strelok was showing 24.9 minutes , ran out at exactly 20. So 25 minutes done on holdover on the reticle. A spotter would have been nice , first few shots came up low. I over corrected when I went to 27 minutes , 26 was what I needed. Was fun but only got 3 of 10 on my 12” plate.
Not sure if the Arken reticle is off or Nosler’s BC is off.
Even at 30% I’m pretty happy with the old 30-30 with its 20” barrel.
Target is circled on the second picture.

Oh ya my swampy bench

As long as I'm alive there will be a 30-30 in the gun rack. They are just fun to shoot.

We had an old timer here in Cheyenne years and years ago. He had a bolt action Savage 30-30 . Believe it or not he use to handload Speers 100 grain bullets at 2750 or so and kill all his elk and deer with headshots only. He was a heck of a hunter.
