Our Tennessee rifle Deer season opened here Nov. 19th. First day saw nothing but Doe. Sunday the 20th I saw a few buck with one shooter buck chasing some doe near me, no shot possible. But Sunday evening at 4:15 PM with 20-minutes of shooting light remaining that all changed.
Conditions were windy all day but winds started to die down after 4 pm. Had a doe come up the hollow to the ridge I was on extra cautious. Was almost going to shoot her when she looked back, the dead give away!! Out came this 16" 7-point.
The Whelen spoke and sent the 225 PT going 2677 fps his way. Need I say DRT? 8)
The 35 Whelen is an impressive cartridge, just love this gun!!
Leaving on a trip soon will post a pic after getting back.
